MartinT (4458), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 18, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A ring of foam surrounds the darkened brown.
-Distinctive earthy molasses and serene charred wood are well-laid out for the nose.
-Pleasant fruity molasses produce leveled sweetness.
-The suave mouthfeel is nourishing yet drinkable, an always satisfying feat in my tastes.

What if you dig deeper?
-Faint roastiness tickles the upper palate.
-A dry, roasty finish cuts the malty sweetness, as wooden hop bitterness and feeble fruity tartness nibble the back of the sip.
-The aroma’s more complex than the flavor profile, but both are equally enjoyable.
-This is nothing special, but it remains a very tasty, classic Porter.
Bottled; no date. jasonp (1447), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Sep 3, 2007 Bottle, thanks argo0. Clear dark brown with ruby edges and a with white foamy ring head. Nice rich caramel, coffee-mocha nose. Full bodied and pleasantly sweet flavor. Notes of chocolately caramel, coffee, mocha and ample hop character. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very good porter. ruggedman (431), Portland, Maine, USA Apr 13, 2006 Pours a caramelly dark brown color with a tan head. Smells are some hops and malt. Taste is really nice, caramel, some nice sweet notes, and there’s a real crisp bite to it. This is very similar to the Porter they serve as draft only, but this tastes like it’s got a bit more cascade hop in it. ElPresidente1984 (173), Maine, USA May 23, 2006 Bottle from RSVP. pours dark dark brown, almost black color. aroma of burnt malts, coffee, caramel, and hints of spicy hops. flavor is similar. coffee, and bitter chocolate, with a sharp hoppy bite at the finnish. good, but kinda thin. lazz (3), Brigdton, Maine, USA does not count Jan 31, 2008 I like this brewing company, even though they seem to get bashed by folks on this site. This beer pours as black as can be. A little light on the carbonation, but the head is easily resurrected. I would call it a sufficient porter taste, but nothing explosive and exciting in tastes. I could see much more coming from a porter. Although I recommend the black demon stout, as lame as that name is, it is decent beer from this brewery. Support Your Local Breweries!
