Very nice beer. Pours a dark brown...almost black...nice thick mouthfeel, espresso on the nose and on the palate along with some prune like flavor.

Dark, sweet coffee and bitter. A nice dark baltic porter. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

0,5 l bottle. Bought in Berlin, drank it from the bottle in a train across Germany. Upon first sip you get blasted by heavy coffee and roasted malt aromas that completely dominate the taste from then on. Only later are fruit and chocolate aromas becoming traceable. The aftertaste is, as expected, sweet and very dry. Great beer, of course, but still kinda one - dimensional, due to the prevalence of coffee aromas.

Almost black with a big light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, liquorice and a touch of smoke. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and roasted bitter finish. 050711

Test vom 11.10.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,8,9,9,11,9 - 8,95

Bottle under the name Witnicki Porter. Pours a blackish color with some reddish notes comming through, with a small beige head. Aroma is of burnt and roasted malt, sweet brown sugar, dark fruit and a touch of alcohol. The flavor is again quite roasted with the burnt note, along with dark fruit like raisins, molasses, brown sugar and some sugary sweetness. The body is medium with a slightly creamy and dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty solid Baltic Porter.

Well, the Poles do make a number of quite good (and quite similar) Baltic Porters. The Witnica version is nicely fermented raisiny, touch-of-fruitcake in the aroma, with a wonderful alternating sweet-and-sourness to the flavor. Pumpernickel bread in a bottle, with fruit. Totally similar in quality and style to the Ciechan, body a bit more sturdy (head dies but is resurrectable). Good beer.

Bottle, shared with Palme. This must be my first Polish micro brew, so I’m kinda excited. Pours a near-black deep brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, hints of leather and raisins. Taste has more sweet malts, hints of leather and licorice. Some burnt toast in there, too. A decent Baltic, but nothing too awesome is going on here. I guess there’s still some way to go for the micro brewers of Poland before they are able to mimic the larger breweries on home field.
