Dark ruby color with no head. Salty aroma with a hint of bacon. Yeah, tastes pretty much like salted pork as well. Some kind of malt base, but it just tastes like a salt like. Blah.

bottle-pours a deep red huge with a small fizzy tan head. ozidized aroma with notes of chocolate, sour milk, wet forest and rasin. very burnt flavors to start with a chocolatey finish. 9.4%? are you kidding? This tastes around 5 at the most. alcohol is nowhere to be found for this percentage. this beer suffers from a thin body and too much residual sweetness. not one of the better baltics out there.

Dark Red Coloring and Light Tan Frothy Head. Sweet Strong Malt Aroma. Carbonated..Light Coffee..Chocolate and Malt..Watery Towards the End.. Alcohol Not Noticeable for Such a Percentage. An Interesting Porter

Reid (2028) - Salem, Oregon, USA - JUN 5, 2005
Served in the very attractive monocromatic labelled bottle. For an old UK ska fan this reminds me of the old Two- Tone record labels. In appearance its the typical dark ,dark brown almost black, mahogany of Baltic porters small tan head, that dissapates fast to leave nice lace. the aroma is very dark chocolate ( unsweet), black coffee etc. Taste is certailly Baltic but it is very much on the sweet side, there is the dark roasted coffee flavour but it is interrupted by a fruity, almost raspberry sweetness that bubbles up from under the bitterness. This is not typical but I like the effect. Nice on the palte..the bubbly sweetness makes this intresting. For a 9.4% beer this is dangerously drinkable..alcohol is barely noticed in the taste.

heemer77 (5156) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 2, 2005
Dark black body with a little bit of ruby highlights showing through. The large tan head is persistent. The aroma is rich roasted coffee with some molasses. The taste has a little bit of lactic creaminess. There is also a little coffee and some rich chocolate in the finish. Overall, the taste is sweet. A nice brew with a slightly thin body.

Burnt malt aroma with a jet black appearence. Has a sour flavor that seems to overpower the chocolate malt leaving an unbalanced palate.

BuckNaked (1230) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAY 29, 2005
Bottle provided by and shared with clarkvv 4/30/2005: Dark brown body with a small beige head that quickly recedes to a tiny ring around the outside of the glass. Aroma: mostly dominated by dark molasses, brown sugar, maple syrup, acidic toffee. Taste: sweet, syrupy malt up front, followed by brown sugar, molasses, toffee, chalky caramel. Finish shows a bit of coffee and continues to be sweet. Medium forced carbonation, creamy mouth feel. Completely hides any trace of alcohol, which is impressive. This one does seem quite sweet, possibly under-attenuated, so Iím wondering what yeast, or method they used to get this particular sweetness.

Didnít care for this at all. Odd flavor, strange finish. Iím chalking up to just not getting the Baltic porter style.

Bottle poured black with a medium sized off white head. Brown sugar and molasses aroma with a good medium body, sweet malty flavor is almost a bit to sweet for me. Became more roasty as it warmed..still to sweet.

2004 bottle shared with bucknaked on 4/30/2005. MIBRomeo is right on, the dark brown body has a shiny copper/penny-colored hue to it. Beige head is quickly receding to ring. Smells of sticky molasses, brown sugar, toffee, very straightforward baltic porter aroma. Would appreciate some lager yeast qualities, but as this is quite filtered and most assuredly pasteurised, Iím not surprised at the cleanliness. Flavor is quite sweet, more molasses, brown sugar and caramel/toffee. Cane sugary finish, maybe a touch of dry anise. Bits of cappucino stick out here and there. Boring, unsubstantial mouthfeel shows the high filtration and forced carbonation. Very sweet, medium body. Hides the alcohol VERY well, I will say that.
