   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 16/20
Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 13, 2005
Nearly opaque, half visible dark caramel-colored body, deep crimson, with a big, blooimg cocoa-tan head, leaving lace, looking lovely. Aroma: creamy, some roastiness, a little bittersweet, moreso on the sweet, more chocolate-y than anything. beyond the typical coffee and cocoa sensations found in most porters, Iím getting some cherries here, and other bright/dark fruits...as easy to down as youíd like, really, a solid porter that please, never teases, and doesnít lay too heavy on the palate. Thoroughly medium-bodied, with a sweet, fruity finish. If youíre in the mood for an overly strong, extra-pleasurable Polish porter for everyday enjoyment, Iíd nominate the Big Boss, for sure!

beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - APR 10, 2005
From the bottle this pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a medium brown head. Very rich sweet chocolate aroma with hints of licorice, fruit, and dried prunes. Taste was very sweet but hid the high abv very well, lots of chocolate show throughout with a very smooth texture and good weight on the palate. This was a pretty nice porter for 2 bucks and 9.4%.

Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - APR 7, 2005
Dark brown color, small tan head that had a decent hang time then faded slowly to leave just a hint of lace behind. The aroma was malty and roasty with a bit of a licorice side and maybe even something that makes it appear a little on the spicy side,Hrmmm. Decent flavor of malt and coffee with a bit of what seemed to be like bakers chocolate or something, and fairly but not overly so sweet.I have to say i like this brew.Itís not something iíd like all the time but having a few for the winter months would be nice .

BBB63 (5941) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - APR 4, 2005
Bottle: Deep reddish brown with a fizzy and mostly fading head and good lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, brown sugar, prune, molasses, grassy hops, and an earthy ester. The taste is very sweet and molasses like. So much so that the rest of malts and hops got subdued by the sweetness. The finish does display a fruity and coffee quality which saves the beer. The feel is quite strange, fizzy on one hand, syrupy on the other. Overall iit is okay but needs a bit more bitterness to back up all that sweet taste. Thanks for the bottle Joe.

flutetokill (523) - Fresno, California, USA - MAR 26, 2005
Very dark brown color with a medium tan head. Sweet molasses, malt, coffee and dark friut aroma with a hint of mushroom. Nice combination of roasted coffee and sweet malt, molasses, and dark friut flavors. Thick feel with a fairly wet finish.

loweredsixth (946) - Clovis, California, USA - MAR 26, 2005
Deep, dark chestnut color (bordering on black) with ruby highlights, and a medium begie head. The aroma burst out with tons of licorice (I likes, I likes), sugar, molasses, cinnamon, and a fruity character (plums mainly.) The flavor was very sweet with molasses, licorice, coffee, milk chocolate, tart fruits, and a gentle earthiness. The feel was rather syrupy (nice!) and coating...wet finish. Wonderful porter! Why isnít this a 100 percentile beer?

Bottle from BierKonig. Chestnut colored. Tannish head. Sugar and molasses aroma. Flavor is rich and malty but an overwhelming sugar presence throws this off. Syrupy and bordering on sickly sweet.

xenthem0nk (101) - Oregon, USA - MAR 15, 2005
Bottle. Pours a deep black/brown; can barely see through it against the light. A 15 second head. Has a dense, sweet aroma of caramel, roasted malts, and carob (? of all smells) came through pretty strong. Immediatly noticed black licorice in the flavor, toffee, raisins, and Nyquil cheery flavor. Weird, but thatís what it reminds me of somewhat. Although the alchohol is well hidden, it still finishes with a nice warm zing. Mouthfeel is syrupy and leaves a sweet coating. Not too satisfied with this (being my first baltic porter). I hope to find better in the future.

BeerPrince (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 8, 2005
Black with a slight mahogany tinte. Big bubbly tan head with nice lacing quality. Aroma is dominate with caramel sweet malts . Some coffee and licorice get through so that it smells just like raisins. Quite sweet, getting kind of syrupy with some roasted malt character. Leaves with a sweetness in the mouth. Would have liked a little more hops and bitterness.
