Love this f***ing beer. One of my favorites. -Pours a dark black, rose and burgundy in the light, tan to white creamy head dissipates quickly and leaves a bit of lacing. Aromas of raisin, date, paperclips, farmhouse, light chocolate. Licorice, grain, peanut, pistachio shell, metal, vine, and sexy sex on the tongue. Slightly watery mouthfeel, medium body, tingly in the cheeks, bold but subtle palette. Finish is half dry half wet, long remnant of nut and earthy grain, little beef. Rather warming, a solid porter. This is what I want when I want a porter.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is roast, cola and licorice. Taste is sweeter then expected with some mild acidic tartness. Medium bodied with the alcohol well hidden, thin texture and soft carbonation.

Surprisingly little aroma. Sweet and malty. Definitely an enjoyable sweet beer.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 Bottle. Dark brown, but not quite inky, with a thin brown head. Aroma is sweet, but in a way that isnít entirely appealing, cola-ish with caramel and dark fruits. Tootsie Rolls! That;s what Iím getting here! And Iím not crazy about it. The palate is much the same, more caramel, very little roast, and with a dusty, flinty dryness in the finish. Just okay.

This has a very distinct smell, like licorice or something else I canít quite name. The taste is interesting, I get the malt flavor as well as a sour note like black licorice, as well as other flavors I canít quite pinpoint. It does seem a bit thick on the palate, but enjoyable when sipped.

Bottle. Pours almost opaque amber, appears black in the glass. Light tan head, dissipates to the edges, which stick around. Smells like the sweeter end of the porter spectrum. Taste is sharp but not bitter, simple and to the point. Smoother than I expected. Nice sipping porter.

Bottle from tgncc. Pours deep brown. Nose of dark fruits and cola. Tastes of plums, licorice, soy sauce, light roasted malt, flat RC cola, and molasses. Quite sweet on finish. Medium bodied with enough carbonation.

16.9 bottle shared poured a medium brown yet translucent with light brown head. The aroma is roasted malts and chocolate and coffee and licorice. Not necessarily in that order. The flavor is quite delicious. Itís sweet without over doing it. Roasted malts, lots of black licorice and chocolate. Blended together very well. Overall impressed with this porter. Donít let looks deceive you.
