4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
As the name indicates, this beer poured a nice thick black with a thin tan head. There was chocolate, alcohol, and maybe some sour cherries in the aroma, as well as some breadiness as is breathed a bit. The flavor had lots of chocolate and coffee with a slight creaminess. The malt body balanced the alcohol. It finished smooth. This was a great beer for the price ($2.80 for 500ml bottle) and a good beer regardless of price.

Wow. caramel, sweet malt, chocolate, molasses- The high alcohol is completely masked by the sweet satisfying flavor. This is a great drinking porter! Donít let the price fool you! This is inexpensive excellence. And, a FULL PINT of easy drinking 9.4 ABV for a little over a buck and a half is really a "no-brainer".

A very smooth porter. I enjoyed it very much. The taste isnít overwhelming, and it has a hint of molasses. Very sweet, highly recommended.

Didnít care for this at all. Odd flavor, strange finish. Iím chalking up to just not getting the Baltic porter style.

It pours jet black intimidation, goes down like molasses, hitís you with a wicked 9.4 percent, then demands you thank it. Thank you Black Boss, may I have another?

pours with a head which quickly dissipates into a nice lace. smells bready with a touch of cocoa and sweetness. the 9.4 % alcohol is well hidden, heavy malt flavors are well pronounced. for $1.99/.5L bottle this is an excellent buy, and an outstanding example of baltic porter

Whoa! Nice and dark. Smoky taste. Very palatable for a 9.5% beer. A top-five lifetime beer for Mac; not quite there for me, but very good.

Sweet taste of molasses. Easy to drink. Little alcohol burn. Very good price point for a beer of such strength. Recommended

Okey dokey, so the P00tz procured this bottle for a number of reasons and being a fan of all things "black" and "boss" he thought it impossible not to enjoy this beer. Especially when one takes into account that it claims to be both "black" and "boss" whilst containing 9.5% alcohol.* So here P00tz is with this beer claiming to deliver all that P00tz values and what does the P00tz discover? P00tz finds out the hard way that this beer is able only to satisfy the P00tzís yearnings for sweet sweet alcohol. In short this beer is a boozy cascade of disappointments and as such is simultaneously reminiscent of P00tzís life past and his glorious release.
*Pootz is also a big fan of alcohol!
