bottle-pours a deep red huge with a small fizzy tan head. ozidized aroma with notes of chocolate, sour milk, wet forest and rasin. very burnt flavors to start with a chocolatey finish. 9.4%? are you kidding? This tastes around 5 at the most. alcohol is nowhere to be found for this percentage. this beer suffers from a thin body and too much residual sweetness. not one of the better baltics out there.

Nothing astonishing here. At %9.4 it gets the job done and is affordable, but, despite being fairly rich, doesnt have much character.

Thanks to Steve on this one. This baltic was pretty much unlike any other beer I have had, and there may have been something wrong wiht it, but it was very hard to describe. Pours a nice deep dark brown with amber highlights and a thin head . Aroma has a slight wierd roasted nut character to it, some solvent, rubber, light bandaid and some chocolate malt. Flavor is oily, lightly sweet, more wierd rubber/ roasted nuts and a wierd bitter finish. Finish was a bit harsh but overall just wierd.

(Bottle at home) Pours dark brown to red. Small, fast decreasing light brown head. Smells chocolate. Creamy, malty and some sugar. Taste: chocolate with some milky coffee. Really well hidden alcohol. Malty. Some peppery notes, meybee from the alcohol. Very mild beer. To stale aftertaste. Lingering malty aftertaste. Not too complex. Small to medium body.

500 ml bottle (bb 04.02.07). Tiny, short-lived espresso head. Clear transparent, not black, but very dark brown body, with a glimse of ruby. Sweet fruity aroma (canned fruitcocktail), sugar, coffee, sweet dark malt and alcohol. Very sweet-flavored, almost cloying, with roast and chocolate. Medium body, minimal hopbitterness, sticky mouthfeel. Sweetness all the way through the finish. Fair.

Aroma of toasted dark malt. Nearly opaque dark brown color with a tan head that is substantial. A bit thin in body. Starts with coffee, followed by toffee. Definite toffee candy sweet. The finish is not dry, and the toffee flavor persists. Interesting, but something of a one note. Not that there might not be hidden complexity, just not obvious to me.

Tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee. Nicely carbonated, with flavors of chocolate, Molasses and coffee. The high alcohol content doesn’t hit till the end.

Pours dark toffee-brown with a thick, fine-textured head. Sweet aromas have a definitely fruity slant that separates this from the majority of porters. In the mouth, this is sweetly chocolatey upfront, then it thins and dries out in the midpalate and finish. The net effect is a reduction in the impressiveness/impact of the beer but also an increase in the drinkability.

Poured from Bottle into Pint glass. Pours a dense black that has some slight deep copper edging with a light cocoa colored head that quickly dissolves into a nice layer atop the glass. The aroma has mostly sweet chocolate and is accompanied by some roasted malts. The flavor has more roasted malts, a lot of milk chocolate and a very light bitterness. Its a very light bodied porter with the right amount of carbonation. This is a pretty watery porter that leaves you needing much more flavor and the aroma is a dominated by too much chocolate.

Pours a cherry brown with thin head. Weak nose - picked up a pilsner-like malt, with only a hint of coffee/chocolate typical of porters. Taste of roasted malt, some coffee - but also some syrupy sweetness. I liked this more on the first drink, and less on subsequent sips. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
