lagomswedish (206), Umeå, Sweden Feb 5, 2007 Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a dark brown with reasonable tan head that fades quickly. No stand-out aromas, but low levels of bitter chocolate and sweet fruit. I also got some banana (paw paw?).
It’s way to sweet for me, with sickly sweet fruit, treacle and vanilla dominating an otherwise quite watery beer, which tastes flat and filtered. Minimal bitterness as expected while the alcohol dissappears in the sweetness.
Overpoweringly sugary for me, making it all a bit of an effort to finish the glass.
danielcurtis81 (260), San Diego, California, USA Oct 29, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. Pours fairly black. Roasted malt and dark fruits. Alchol muddles the flavors a bit much. I guess Baltic porters just don’t excite me too much. Still a decent brew. Beardface (257), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 Really dark black with a red overtone. Medium sized tan head. Very roasty and earthy flavors with a little fruit on the backend. Alcohol flavor is almost completely covered up and could have used a little more prominence to my mind. Still good though and would love to try more Polish beers! Ibrew2or3 (1900), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2008 Pours deep garnet with semi big bubbled tan head. The aroma has notes of dark fruity esters like prunes, figs and dates as well as licorice, burnt malts, some notes of earthiness and a faint hotness on the nostrils. The taste is nice with bold yet even with approachably smooth earthiness mixing with chocolate and burnt malts. Those flavors are followed by an under current of dark fruity esters that tie the taste together nicely. It ends with residual dark fruitiness but mostly roasty malts and fading earthiness. Very pleasing combination of notes creating a very tasty brew. Juelze (734), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 13, 2008 Pours a dark brown color off-white. Aroma is of roasted malt, light chocolate, and light coffee. Taste is the same with a creamy palate and moderate carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Excellent! Petrucci914 (407), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 12, 2008 Pours a black color with a thin mocha head that leaves some bubbly lacing. Aroma is dark roasts, chocolate, and dark fruit. Taste is about the same - very creamy and smooth, and balanced.....no alcohol burn. This came from Poland?! Sweet!
