Pour on tap at the brewery, clear yellow pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of cracker, pils malt, nice hints of spice, grain, slight vanilla, touch of honey, actually pretty decent smelling. Taste is a mix of grass, grain, slight spice, biscuit, and cracker notes, finishing fairly dry, clean.

On tap at black bottle. Pretty boring, although its pretty hot outside so not bad. Tastes like straw

A few steps above Old Style, but I think dad needs a new beer. Pours clear and thin. Grainy aroma, maybe processed corn. The hops are not enough to balance the malts so it comes off as too sweet. I really can’t find a good application for this beer beyond sampling it.

On tap at BBB. Pale, gold/yellow and clear with a bright white head. Mild aroma of toasted grains, hay, light sweet malts and bitter hops. Similar flavor with a light floral/herbal character and citrus fruits. Light body with a clean, crisp feel and a dry, light bitter finish. Pretty thin and soft on the palate. Smooth and pretty refreshing overall, a bit tangy.

Tap at West End Tap House. Gold with light orange tinge. Light nose of hay and malt. Malt and some corn and citrus. Clean finish. Really exceeded my expectations. Hard to pull of a good kolsch.

Tap @ Black Bottle. Pours a clear, bright yellow appearance with a white head and poor head retention. Chewy grainy, corn-like, herbal aroma. A bit tangy, again corn like flavor with a harsh finish. Slight solvent like flavor. By far my least favorite here. I’m not a huge Kölsch fan but I enjoy a fresh, clean, dry Kölsch. This has none of those characteristics (ok, I guess it’s probably fresh).
