COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Javelin is a American Amber Rye. We take it up a notch with this beer. Malty with hints of raisins, and plums. We use Amarillo and Cascade hops to add a moderate bitterness and a spicy, noble aroma. Javelin is sure to hit the mark. This is a non filtered, dry hopped beer to give you all the flavor and aroma you would expect from a craft beer.

Bottle from a trade with jmikolich. Pours dark caramel color with tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and caramel. Sweet fruit flavor with some rye spiciness. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Jim.

Sweet aroma, with spice notes and touches of dark fruit. Pours a clear ruby-red, with a giant off-white head. Slick mouthfeel, and a very malt forward beer. Touches of caramel, and candi sugar, I’m not noticing any of the rye in the flavor profile. Not a bad beer, but seems to be missing something.

Poured from a bottle. Appearance is a dark amber with a very thin beige head of foam. Aroma is spicy rye and malty caramel. Taste is initially a nice blend of caramel, rye, and bitter hops, but as I drank more and more, the beer became too sweet. Not so sweet that I couldn’t finish the beer, but it was just not as enjoyable as I initially thought it was going to be.

July 2008: Black Box Javelin has a clear complexion (more rye beers are at least hazy) and a deep amber color with ruby highlights. There is an off-white veil on the top surface. The aroma is fruity with some rye and apple and spicy hints. The flavor is fruity with soft malt and a lightly floral hoppiness. This beer is dry with a slightly spicy finish along with some hitns of cigarette ash. This beer has a medium-light to medium body and has a smooth texture and feels "rounded" in the mouth. Overall this is an interesting beer and a good effort, but slightly disappointing.

Sample (draught) at The Brew Keeper brewpub in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Rating #1 for this beer.
