Cask - Volo Cask Days 2010, Day 1. Deep clear red with an average frothy light brown head. Some dry sweetness from the bourbon, some charred oak, anise, wildflower light bitterness, moderate alcohol. Taste is treacle, licorice, scorched oak staves, very light bittereness. Average to thin body, slick, a bit tannin-astringent, mildly carbonated, an interesting dry finish to it, a bit sweet, but a nice overlay of dry wood - a tad thin, but nice enough.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2010’ . Pours black with a spare lasting frothy tan head. Mild but nice aroma of roasted malt and chocolate -- I’m not really getting any bourbon barrel-aging out of it though. Flavour of roasted malt with hints of dark fruit, chocolate and some vanilla -- again, I’m not getting much barrel-aging out of it. Average to medium bodied. Not what I expected based on the name but it was still good.

[3441-20101029] Cask. Sweet vanilla oak aroma is quite fragrant. Black body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Smooth rich roasty malt flavour has a light lingering sweet aftertaste. Full body is smooth. Pretty good, repeatable.

Flavor and Palate : medium bodied. As in aroma Bourbon character is quiet strong. Straight mellow dark malt as base. Good.

2010-10-29. Black body, small frothy brown head. 3+ Bourbony vanilla aroma, with mild supportive sweet malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, vanilla is quite prominent with very light woody touches, sweetish malty base slowly fades, dryer finish shows a light bourbony wood character. 7+ Smooth average plus palate. Decent, vanilla is a touch strong for my tastes, and bourbon could stand to be just a bit stronger. A solid first bourbon barrel effort manages not to be overbearing. Cask at Volo, Toronto
