COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed at Trafalgar. The new beer captures the essence of pumpkin pie that’s rich in aroma and spicy in flavour. The beer uses real pumpkin in the brew kettle and is infused with a blend of spices including nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon prior to fermentation. The result is golden ale heady in spices and flavor.

probstblueribbon (2900) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 27, 2012
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep copper with a nice orange-tan head. Aroma: Sticky sweet malts, clove, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, caramel, toffee, almost a milky note?, pumpkin pie with whipped cream? Palate: Medium+ body, somewhat relaxed effervescence. Flav.: Much like the nose – plenty of sticky sweet malts and pumpkin spices that don’t overwhelm; dry with a little bitterness and a nice, toffee/treacle, rye bread crust finish.

This pumpkin beer suits my palate.

pootzboy (1590) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 25, 2012
1/2 liter bottle: pours an orangey-amber hazed ale in the glass - 2 finger tight-pored off white cap lasts well, laces the glass. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of musty pumpkin shell and toasty-bready malts, a hint of sweetness, some grassyness. Medium bodied, demure rounded character. Flavor is a very pleasing pumpkin and caramalt blend in the front, some tostiness, some spice, some hop bittering to balance, this intensifies a bit going to a lingering balanced finish. A substantial pumpkin ale flavourful but demure without being understated - a very drinkable pumpkin brew. I like it.

rederic (2912) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 16, 2012
500ml bottle, amber-copper color, with a beige head, earthy spicy pumpkin skin nose, with a good cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, cloves accents, and a mild toasted, caramel, biscuity malty notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a strong earthy pumpkin skin spiciness character with toasted, caramleized, biscuity malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, cloves flavour, and a pumpkin pie crust, subtle maple tree sap undertone, leading towards a sweet toasty, biscuity maltiness, spicy cinnamon, gingerbread, nutmeg pumpkin pie finish.

yarry (527) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 15, 2012
500ml bottle, 5% a/v Pours medium gold with very little head. Aroma is generic ale with just a bit of pumpkin spice notes. Taste is slightly pumpkinier but nowhere near the aggressive spice that many other brewers have gone for (and that I personally prefer). If it wasnt labelled as a pumpkin ale it may just pass off as a spiced ale, hard to really pick out the pumpkin. It comes out a bit more on the aftertaste but not as much as you’d hope. Also rather uncarbonated (perhaps leading to the miniscule head). Very underwhelming

Boutip (4701) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 11, 2012
Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light pumpkin notes with light cinnamon notes. Taste is also dominated by medium pumpkin notes with some cinnamon and ginger also discernable. Malt backbone is present and provides semi-sweet caramel flavours. Body is about average with light creaminess and good carbonation. Nothing extreme in this beer – just good balance mix between pumpkin and light spices.

blankboy (6030) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 8, 2012
Bottle [500ml]. Pours a cloudy, bubbly orange-amber with a small lasting fizzy off-white head. Decent but simple aroma of pumpkin, some sweet vanilla, spices and caramel malt. Slightly watery flavour follows the aroma but it’s a little subtle for the style. Light bitter finish. Average bodied. Like I said, it’s decent but I like more flavour in my Pumkin beers.
