Lubiere (8247) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 18, 2012
A clear dark brown stout with a super thick big bubbled frothy brown head. Noted a floating film on air/liquid interface before opening bottle. In aroma, strange briney and grassy chocolate with wild yeasts, sign of infection, medicinal. In mouth, a sourish mix of coffee grinds and olive brine, a tad unpleasant, infected.

Pitch black pour with a tight tan head. The aroma has a light cocoa character in addition to a little bit of vegetal character. There is a little bit of very light roast as well - a fairly silky palate and a touch of light bitterness. The roast is very restrained as is the chocolate. Palate is a little bit sticky. It’s hardly got any estery character at all - very clean bitterness as well. It’s just kind of there - there’s really not much to distinguish it in one way or another. There’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s nothing terribly right with it either.

2013-04-01. Very dark brown black body with a nice tan head. 3++ Dry roasty aroma, light vegetal undertones. 6+ Flavour is similarly quite dry, odd roasty character up front finishes pleasantly roasty. 6++ Average palate is decent but a touch light for the beer. Decent but not really to my own tastes. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto

Radek Kliber (5912) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - NOV 9, 2012
Bottle 500 ml
Aroma: mild, soft slightly creamy, vinous, mild hint of dark ripe fruits, plum perhaps.6+
Appearance: almost black, low carbonation lighter tanned off brown top.
Taste/Body/Palate: medium light bodied. Creamy , some diacetyl like feel. Low carbonation with hint of fig and licorice. Lacking some depth. Leafy finish.

HogTownHarry (5653) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 25, 2012
500ml bottle from LCBO. Deep but clear ruby-black, large and lasting off-white/tan creamy head. Roasty and dry; that is all. Taste follows, add in a hint of smoke and some lactic sourness. Light body and carbonation, a bit acidic, quick dry almost burnt finish. Not bad!

DuffMan (5199) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 30, 2012
Bottle, shared with Robbie. Dark brown with amber highlights and a rapidly vanishing head. Very simple, sweet & roasty without much complexity and a thin mouthfeel. Almost like it was made from a kit.

blankboy (5153) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 25, 2011
Bottle [500ml]. Pours a dark ruby-brown with an average size mostly-lasting frothy tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, oatmeal, a hint of leafy hops, light coffee and chocolate. Slightly watery flavour of light roasted malt, notes of coffee & chocolate and a short, average bitter finish. Average bodied. Nothing out of the norm or special here, but it’s easy to drink and enjoyable enough.

Boutip (3979) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 22, 2011
Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Notes of light roasted malt with light black chocolate are nice. Taste is a balanced mix between some roasted malt with light black chocolate notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed with good drinkability factor though doesn’t provide anything I haven’t seen before.

GregClow (2736) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 8, 2012
Bottle from the LCBO. Dark ruby-black with a light tan head. Typical stout aroma - i.e. dark malt, note of coffee and chocolate - along with a hint of hazelnut and a wisp of smoke. Flavour follows aroma to a T, up until the finish, where a nice mellow bitterness develops. Body is fairly light and quick on the palate. As others have noted, it’s nothing outstanding, just a solid everyday stout - and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.

Bouteille 500ml.
