3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 VeloVampire (616) - Parkdale, Toronto, - OCT 16, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2011 500 ml bottle - pours dark brown, not quite as inky black as I was expecting, but pretty dark nonetheless, with a solid tan head that settles slowly and leaves chunky lace. Aroma is cocoa, a bit of vanilla sweetness, milk chocolate and roasted grains, some smoke. Bitter, blackened grains are upfront in the mouth, and the smoothing vanilla aspect takes on a background role. Quite bitter in the finish, with a bit of smoke. Slightly watery. A touch overcarbonated. Well-made, if simple, stout. Drink at room-temp for maximum effect.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Beer Snob (465) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 13, 2012
Looks like a god stout - thick and midnight black. Smells like nothing and has a weak taste and body. Some nuttiness, but nothing else at all. Very disappointing when a small brewer puts out something that is so lacking in character.

This one did not win me over. A stout is typically thicker than a porter; this is thinner than an average pale ale. I’d expect a discount brewery to make something like this. A rip off.

500ml bottle from LCBO. Deep but clear ruby-black, large and lasting off-white/tan creamy head. Roasty and dry; that is all. Taste follows, add in a hint of smoke and some lactic sourness. Light body and carbonation, a bit acidic, quick dry almost burnt finish. Not bad!
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 frybeer (40) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2012
Dark brown pour. Nearly non-existent head. Smokey, grain and chocolate flavor. Not bad, but nothing impressive either.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 solidfunk (651) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 20, 2012
Pours black, thick consistency. Head all but dies after a meager existence. There’s an above average level of nutty bitterness on this but it’s kind of one-dimensional. Bottle
2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 AGoodBrew (14) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2012
Basic malts, hints of chocolate. The carbonation tends to take over this beer. Drinkable, but nothing special.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 mansquito (1815) - washington, Washington DC, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Canada: Pours a plenty nice dark brown with a whie head. Aroma is of something akin to sour milk and smoke. Taste is also similar to in most regards. Thin and unappetizing. I don’t think that this is skunked, I just think that it is bad. I don’t like to say this, but I think I would rather drink Coors.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 rejtable (473) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 15, 2012
Nope. Looks great in the glass, very dark pour with a light head that lasts awhile, but that’s where it ends. Up front watery, and the back end is all metallic, brassy. Watery in the mouth with lively carbonation. Doesn’t work for me at all.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 kevinsenn (329) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 11, 2012
500mL bottle from LCBO. Pours clear and a deep black, with no head. Aroma is roasty and burnt. Taste is smooth up front, with a bitter roasty, burnt, and watery finish. Feels too thin. Not really worth trying this one.

It seems to be easy to get a stout that looks good, and this one does, with a solid head and jet-black body. The aroma, however, is dirty axle grease and cigarette butts, just all the wrong smells coming off the top of this thing. The flavour is much the same - ash. Like someone dumped an ashtray in my beer, my watery beer. I am generally a huge fan of stouts, and I’m amazed that someone has in fact made a stout that will end up in a drain pour!
