COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Death Beer has a pitch black colour and light brown creamy head. Aroma is roasted malt with strong notes of coffee and chocolate. Sweet spicy flavour with smoky aftertaste. It was launched in Iceland in 2011 and has been very well received, especially among younger beer drinkers (20-30 year old). Black Death is a brand owned by Valgeir Sigurðsson, an Icelandic native who launched vodka and snaps lines under this brand in the eighties with great success in many markets. The brand became famous when Slash, the famous guitar player of Guns ‘n’ Roses became an aficionado.

Deep black pour with a fast fading head. The aroma is lightly coffeeish with notes of cocoa and some soft fruit. A very clean aroma with a well-lagered finish. Soft maltiness with a lightly chewy flavour. A touch of molasses flavour but on the dry side - pretty nice baltic porter.

Bottle: Thanks Papsø: Some bubbles on top of a black beer which seem to disappear quick. Aromas of roast, some liquorice, light molasses, coffee roast. Flavours of roast, metal/iron, liquorice, some spices, light bitter and light coffee tints. Aftertaste of roast, bitter and metal. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, medium body and a light watery light creamy texture. Bit thin but pretty decent.

12oz bottle pours a watery, opaque black with some clumpy, off white head. Nose of malt, sweet, toast, bread dough, yeast, light licorice. Flavor is like a doppelbock, some fruit, bread, toast, brown sugar, licorice. Lightly chalky, dry finish. Simple but nice.

Country #65, thanks to Cunningham. Bottled. Black colour with a light beige head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is toasted, roasted, light red fruits and licorice. Flavor is dark coffee, licorice, toasted malts, herbal notes. The final has notes of black chocolate, very dry final as well.
