COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Death Beer has a pitch black colour and light brown creamy head. Aroma is roasted malt with strong notes of coffee and chocolate. Sweet spicy flavour with smoky aftertaste. It was launched in Iceland in 2011 and has been very well received, especially among younger beer drinkers (20-30 year old). Black Death is a brand owned by Valgeir Sigurðsson, an Icelandic native who launched vodka and snaps lines under this brand in the eighties with great success in many markets. The brand became famous when Slash, the famous guitar player of Guns ‘n’ Roses became an aficionado.

Pours black with medium lasting head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, sugar, some dark bread, dried fruits, mead. Aroma is quite strong. Taste is watery, some metal, burned sugar, coffee with a lot of milk, grainy, whole-grain bread, some pie. Carbonisation disturbs a little. Light, watery but easily to drinkable.

Bottle from a Vínbúdin in Reykjavik. Pour mahogany with a good frothy cream head. Mild sweet molasses aroma. The taste is roasty with liquorice coming through increasingly in the lingerig finish. Pleasant, but lacks a bit of oomph.
