BuckeyeBoy (1209), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 11, 2008 On tap Pours out a light straw topped with a white head. Aroma of light hops and malt. Tast malty with some more light hops. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 28, 2008 26-Aug-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 09-Feb-08 for $1.89 at Ledger’s Liquors in Berkeley, CA) A blonde ale that’s actually malty without being bready or honey-like in sweetness. Lightly bitter, tea-like hops are in nice balance for good drinkability. A very gentle tartness helps offset the light sweetness of the malts. The nose is decidedly malty and lightly sweet-smelling, with a hint of gentle tea, but aromatic hops are barely perceptible. Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated, easy on the palate, finishing balanced and reasonably clean for the style. Golden-amber in color and perfectly clear. The off-white head settles to a wide ring while leaving some sporadic patchy lacing. Nothing to go out of the way for, but it’s easy to drink and quite pleasant for a blonde ale. rkuhnel (1192), Eureka, California, USA May 11, 2008 Updated: Aug 23, 2008From a 12 oz bottle purchased at Corti Bros in Sacramento, CA this poured a clear gold with moderate white head and good lacing. Mose of caramel malts and floral hops. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor of malts and floral hops again, and a nice bitter finish. Nice brew.
Update: Had this on draft at Hops in Humboldt in Fortuna, CA on August 23, 2008. Much the same as before, only I liked it a little better. Gypsy19 (252), AMERICA RISING, USA May 6, 2008 There’s something way different about this beer than I’ve ever tasted. It’s got almost a "foody" spicy flavor to it. I mean, it tastes like food. Like gravy or something, or like the kind of powder that goes into ground beef for cheap tacos. Other than that, it’s quite boring. Yeah, this totally lights up taste buds that would be utilized more in eating than drinking beer. It doesn’t work for me. Acceptable, drinkable, but not good, especially considering the price. DTM (404), Winters, California, USA Apr 3, 2008 On tap at The Grad in Davis, CA. Pours a golden color with a medium sized head. Smells of floral and malt. Sweet malty flavor with just a little bit of hops mixed in. Just as others have said it has a dry finish.
