3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Rating #12. Dark reddish/brown pour, slightly hazy with a beige head that clung to the glass very nicely. Sweet dark fruitiness with a bit of bourbon that also lent the beer some heat as well. Flavor was very woody, a good amount of oak and a touch of bourbon, smooth finish though with just a slight lingering aftertaste. (2131)

Draught, 8.0%. Very vinous aroma, sweet fruit, hint of spicy vanilla. Cloudy dark red amber colour. The flavour is sweet and spicy, probably from the fruit, figs, that is. Sweet, but balanaced by a good citric flavour that must come from the Bourbon barrel, even though I think it tastes like red wine barrel. Good citric finish.

On tap at Birch & Barley, October 2011.
Dark reddish/brown with a small slightly tan head. Aroma of oak, dark fruit, bourbon and toffee. The same in the nice taste. I liked the clean and rather full mouth feel of this beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Churchkey. Dark walnut colored pour with no head. Nose holds surprising ammounts of balsamic and cider vinegars, rye, port, and dark fruit; smells almost like an oud bruin. The flavor brings tart cherry and wood to the forefront. Bizarre for the style but I like it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My nose is thinking plum pudding some stouts been spilled on--plums, brown sugar, brandy, molasses. Opaque darkest brown with a deep knaki head. Balanced in the mouth. Flavor wise its much sweet balanced with some fruit sout, alcohol and valiant but outnumbered hops. Something I’d like to be drinking back home in a snifter rather than in a olastic mug at the wonderful oregon brewer’s fest. I’m guessing this will be one of the big hits,
