Our take on a "west coast style" IPA, Jagged Edge is big and hoppy, yet it’s also extremely well balanced, and surprisingly easy to reach for another. We "first wort hop" with Columbus, and use Simcoe for flavor additions. The finishing hop additions include Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe. Columbus is pungent with sweet orange aromas and flavor. Centennial adds floral notes along with additional citrus. Simcoe add a nice pine like flavor and aroma. These hops were chosen for their flavors and their moderate cohumulone content, which means they are bitter but not overwhelmingly bitter in large quantities. Pale malts are complemented by caramalt and light munich malts, which both enhance the malty sweetness and color and work to balance the substantial hop bill.

Clear orangish golden with a creamy white head. Grapefruit and mild lemon and pine aroma. Grassy citrus taste with a mild bitterness and a hay and caramel finish.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2010 This IPA is big and hoppy (7.3% ABV, 75 IBUs), but it seems a little clumsy. Almost too hoppy without enough complimentary flavors or a pleasing aftertaste.

Very bitter, dry. Brewed in California but more like an english style IPA. Not much sweetness here. Drinkable but not too much to be excited about.

been a while since i had an IPA. This is a good representation. big fruity, syrupy, flowery nose. I like the color of this one. almost yellow, almost brown, nice and clear. The front on this is very refreshingly carbonated, well balanced, really hoppy and really sweet, the finish is strong grapefruit, long lasting bitter. yum. I was afraid this would be a lot like the other old school micro’s with their IPA’s, but these guys seem to like what I like. one of the better one’s. and crap! it’s made where i grew up. go finger. BTW. The bottle says CONCORD, not walnut creek, don’t get it twisted.

Draft sample @ BBQ, Brews and Blues. Pours a hazy golden amber color with a large foamy off white head. The aroma was floral, light citrus and a strange grainy note. The flavor was on the mild side and was floral, earthy, hints of citrus with a pale malt base. Finish had a moderate amount of bitterness. Just OK.

Bottle. Having recently had their amber ale, which was a bit of a fizzy mess, I was a little leery about this one. Thankfully, much better! Pours a nice deep orange amber, lacy white head. Low tropical fruit and caramel aroma. Flavours of caramel malt, with nice tropical fruit and mild pine hop character. Moderately bitter. A decent IPA, but pretty low intensity.

This beer is pretty good. It reminds me of a Firestone Walker beer. Has a pleasing Belgium twist to it.

12oz bottle acquired from Hophead22 (thanks for being my west coast hop hookup!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy golden color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of floral hops, citrus, and some earthiness. Tastes of citrus and grainy. Thinner tastes with a thinner body.
