COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on a "west coast style" IPA, Jagged Edge is big and hoppy, yet itís also extremely well balanced, and surprisingly easy to reach for another. We "first wort hop" with Columbus, and use Simcoe for flavor additions. The finishing hop additions include Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe. Columbus is pungent with sweet orange aromas and flavor. Centennial adds floral notes along with additional citrus. Simcoe add a nice pine like flavor and aroma. These hops were chosen for their flavors and their moderate cohumulone content, which means they are bitter but not overwhelmingly bitter in large quantities. Pale malts are complemented by caramalt and light munich malts, which both enhance the malty sweetness and color and work to balance the substantial hop bill.

"Pours a light amber with an orange tint to it. Slightly cloudy and a fluffy medium sized head which recedes after a couple of minutes. Tons of sticky lacing. The aroma has some faint citrus hops are subtle compared to the strong grainy malt aroma. Getting some yeast scents as well. The taste initially is subtle grapefruit hop flavor is overtaken by biting malt. A bit of earthiness to the lingering hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium with above average carbonation.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with a January expiration date but Iím not sure what year. I assume Jan 14. The color is medium amber, slightly cloudy, with a lingering smallish head. The aroma is floral and also has a kind of chocolate note, which I found to be unusual for an IPA. The body is medium. The taste has a chocolate sweet malty note up front and a full bitterness at the end. Rather unique.

Aroma of pine, chocolate with floral hints. Cloudy gold with foam head. Sweet with bitter aftertaste. Not bad

Part of the sampler at the brewery in Concord CA. The aroma is the best part of this beer. Nice floral hop smell, but the hop flavor fell apart on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Floral hops aroma over a citrus mandarin sweetness. A distinctly hoppy, malty body and a bitter finish. The malt adds a level of sweet to head of the bite and keeps it in check quite nicely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Floral hops and orange juice aroma, cloudy amber color, taste is mostly just a light bitter, smooth cream feel across the palate with a very short watery finish. Pretty good IPA.

Orange pour, white head. Straigh forward IPA here. Some citrus and grassy hops with a hint more malt than most west coast examples. Standard stuff.

Pours light amber with fairly fluffy white head. No aroma to speak of especially for an ipa. Weak body not bitter and a thin finish. Bleh.

12oz bottle, from Jungle Jimís in Eastgate. Best by notch is October 2012... Purchased this 5 days ago... Hazy darker orange color. Thin, kind of airy beige head. Decent retention. Leaves pretty decent, thicker lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter, kind of crisp carbonation. Lightly dry in the texture. Nose is not that of a fresh IPA, it definitely smells a little malt forward, but the hop is still there in the flavor, doing alright. Some citrusy hops, lemon zest, along with big cakey biscuity malt. Not too much caramel. Moderate sweet taste though, more than I want from an IPA, with light to moderate bitter. A lot better than I expected, over all. Probably pretty tasty fresh.

Nice, citrus-forward IPA. Citrus aroma and mid-taste flavor. Front end seems to be more malty; back end, bitter. Fairly well balanced. Solid, good! B ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
