COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on a "west coast style" IPA, Jagged Edge is big and hoppy, yet it’s also extremely well balanced, and surprisingly easy to reach for another. We "first wort hop" with Columbus, and use Simcoe for flavor additions. The finishing hop additions include Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe. Columbus is pungent with sweet orange aromas and flavor. Centennial adds floral notes along with additional citrus. Simcoe add a nice pine like flavor and aroma. These hops were chosen for their flavors and their moderate cohumulone content, which means they are bitter but not overwhelmingly bitter in large quantities. Pale malts are complemented by caramalt and light munich malts, which both enhance the malty sweetness and color and work to balance the substantial hop bill.

Draft at uber. Pours a hazy medium amber with a dense and.creamy tan head. Big pine and orange nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toasty caramel mid palate with lots of pine and orange. Resiny finish with a little bit of shampoo and pencil shavings, but not so acetic as to spoil the effect.

Clear with a gold hue. Foamy head with multi-sized bubbles. Fresh, hoppy nose. First sip unleashes assertive hops that are nice up front, but become a little rough around the edges in the finish and aftertaste. Very floral, perfume-like and grassy. Subtly sweet caramel in the malts barely keeps up. Sharp and harsh finish coats the mouth with an astringent bitterness that lingers too long. Not entirely bad, but it definitely has a jagged edge.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 3/19/12

Aroma: The nose has some orange/tangerine, a little grapefruit, and some malty notes too
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange color with a fizzy white head and fairly heavy lacing
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweet up-front, mostly citrus, balanced by a later hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a an average-plus carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: This was my first beer from Black Diamond. I thought this was a pretty solid IPA, but it wasn’t a standout in the style.

Bronzed hue with a solid, hop-pocked head. Floral, resiny nose that is redolent of fresh hop leafs and with a fluorish of summer honeysuckle. The body is considerably more dank and tannic than the aroma indicates. A touch of skunk cabbage and heavy co-humulons along with a tannic floral hop leaf flavor, ending with both acerbic, yet somehow alkaline twang that is bitter-sour and off-key.

Fruity floral hop nose, some perfumey soapy notes - noticed this in the Rampage recently as well - house yeast? INteresting. Malt back bone is lightly sweet, pale perhaps a touch of caramel. Pours golden orange, nice head and lace. The flavor is nice and fruity up front with a touch of pale malt sweetness, a hint of caramel, soapy potpurri flavor - again noticed in the Rampage. Nice flavors, odd yeast esters. Dry, a little dusty as well. Not bad at all, just interesting IMO.

Pours a fairly clear light-orange. Bitter, piney aroma, with just a bit of sweetness coming through. Flavor is super piney and bitter, with little malt sweetness, and a medium body. A good choice if you are looking for a crisp, dry, and bitter IPA.

Ok, not very hoppy

Poured a slightly dark hazy orange color with a medium-sized off-white head. Looks like a wheat beer. Aroma is very hoppy with resin and some grapefruit. Also some caramel and oranges. Taste has lots of citrus and hops. The flavor transitions into a fruity and sweet taste. Some grain flavors as well. A bitter finish, but the aftertaste is long and sweet with orange notes. Overall quite nice.

Bottle; clear orange type color with a big frothy head. Aroma of earth, fruit, orange, yeast, lemon, and some zesty type hints. Alot of citrus. Flavor had alot of bitterness too it; zesty and citrus/orange. Definitely has a bite to it and has some good orange notes. Pleasant surprise.

650mL bottle poured a golden color with about 2 fingers of white head that had some nice retention and some fine lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops and some grain. Taste is a nice balance of hoppy bitterness and malty sweetness. A slightly above average IPA that was a treat to sample.
