COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on a "west coast style" IPA, Jagged Edge is big and hoppy, yet it’s also extremely well balanced, and surprisingly easy to reach for another. We "first wort hop" with Columbus, and use Simcoe for flavor additions. The finishing hop additions include Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe. Columbus is pungent with sweet orange aromas and flavor. Centennial adds floral notes along with additional citrus. Simcoe add a nice pine like flavor and aroma. These hops were chosen for their flavors and their moderate cohumulone content, which means they are bitter but not overwhelmingly bitter in large quantities. Pale malts are complemented by caramalt and light munich malts, which both enhance the malty sweetness and color and work to balance the substantial hop bill.

Not much of an aroma here. Not much hop flavour to it either. This drinks like an English golden ale. Quaffable but unimpressive and very misleading.

Bottle picked up at SL... Nice little IPA... Pours an orange color, small head. Well balanced nose of some crystal malts and some grapefruit hops... Taste is well balanced. Nice hop presence, strong bitterness with a nice mango taste... medium body.. easy to drink. Nice IPA

Draft at Toad in the Hole. Hazy deep gold with medium white head and some lace. Mango and woody stem nose. Strong earthy flavor dominates over a crunchy bitterness and simple, easygoing sweets. Mildly astringent. Alcohol is well-integrated enough to be felt more than tasted. EDIT: haze is apparently CHILL HAZE.

Draft at Paradiso Dupont. Hazy pale yellow color. Aroma of pine > floral > citrus. Taste is bitter pine resin. OK.

Medium sized white head with good retention, lacing is fair, lasting. Clear, gold/light copper color. Nose is weird, grapes and grassy notes. Body is medium, gentle carbonation, minerally. A bit of fruity flavors, grapes, apples and some piney notes, dry maltiness, salty. Dry finish, lightly metallic. Aint happenin. Bottle from statelineliquors.

Whole Foods Market, DC 6-pack ($12): Pours an orange color with a white head. Aroma is of piny hops, some herbal hops, and then a couple of other hops. I felt that this beer was very unbalanced towards the hops. basically, there are a few hop profiles in here (none of which are really my favorites) and then little else. Pretty bitter, but not brutally so, just extremely piny. An ok IPA with nothing bad going on, but then again not outstanding.

On tap at West Coast Brewfest 2011. Pours cloudy golden with a thin beige head and a floral aroma. There is a fruity toffee flavor with a bitter hop finish.

Relatively light golden coloured body with a few bubbles rising from the bottom with a thin white head. Aroma of fresh and rather potent hop flowers with some good light sweetness, a bit of drying oak or cotton and some minor malt flavours - all of that coupled with the very strong and noted hop notes of pine and flowers. Aftertaste nice as well with more drying and hop notes than anything else, leaving the palate relatively dry and refreshed after this one. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased from Bridge’s in Danville, California on 19-March-2011.

Bottle from Snojerk321. This was a little bit of a gusher. The pour is a slightly murky dark gold color with a thick off-white head. Herbal, biscuity, grassy, and toffee aroma. The flavors are clean and drinkable, showing herbal, pine, and grassy hops, with a toasty caramel backbone although the entire package is far from assertive. I can’t think of a single thing that’s bad about this beer but I’m also finding it difficult to think of anything that stands out as good either. I guess, decent beer that lacks punch or excitement.
