4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer poured black as night, with 1/2 a fingers worth of a mocha head that left little to no lacing. The aroma is of sweet vanilla, chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is of heavy vanilla, bitter-sweet chocolate, toasted malt and espresso. The mouth feel has very little in the way of carbonation, so it’s heavy and coats your tongue as it runs over your palate, leaving a slight alcohol warming sensation in the back of your throat.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle poured and split. Pours a near black with a tan ring head. Big vanilla bean aroma. Rich malt, cinnamon, chocolate, and vanilla. Like German chocolate cake. A little coconut. Tasty porter for sure.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The rich vanilla definitely makes this nice, though there are faults in the base beer. Still easily the best black diamond I’ve ever had. Medium bodied, a touch of something astringent in the nose and flavor. Subtle for sure, but still a slight distraction. Otherwise dark roast and vanilla dominates both. Pleasant enough, but a one timer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. The pour is black. The aroma is chocolate and malt. The taste seems a little off, a slight funk to it. Almost a coconut finish to it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber shared pours a dark brown to almost black with mocha head. The aroma is amazingly delicious plenty of pure vanilla bean and large amounts of dark chocolate. The flavors are more of the Same in a rich delicious blend. I find no wrong in this beer unless you don’t like vanilla and chocolate. The malts are well roasted.

1.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 1/20
Poured into a tulip on 05.30.14.
A: 3 1/2 finger tan head. Midnight black with a lot of red at the bottom.
S: Vanilla bean, but not sweet. It has some funk too.
T: Pickles, vinegar, and funk dominate. Chemical vanilla, cough syrup, and battery acid are more subtle.
O: This was undrinkable on the first sip. It was very sour. Maybe it was infected? Drain pour.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown almost black color with a small tan colored head. The quickly fades, leaving just a hint of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is huge of roasted malts, caramel, and sweet chocolate. Along with these aromas comes smells of vanilla and some cream, giving a chocolate bar like smell overall. A hint of coffee and some booze are there as well rounding out the aroma and creating a very warming chocolate bar like smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a heavy roasted malt flavor with some cocoa and coffee tastes upfront. There is a decent sum of caramel sweetness which grows stronger and stronger as the taste moves onto the end. All the while, the cocoa grows stronger and is joined by vanilla, giving a sweeter chocolate bar like flavor to the brew. Some more boozy scotch like flavors come to the tongue in the middle, with them growing stronger toward the end. With a bit of a grainy taste and some more cocoa coming to the tongue at the very end, one is left with a nice warming and sweet, boozed up chocolate bar flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the big and rich flavors of this porter, this was a fantastic mouthfeel, allowing all those rich chocolate bar and boozy flavors to linger on the tongue and be fully enjoyed.
Overall – This was a very flavorful and tasty porter. Big on sweet chocolate, woody booze, and roast. This is one I would certainly recommend and one to try if you get a chance.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Growler. Pours a rich, warm coffee brown with an effervescent tan head. Aroma starts with a core of roast malt and hangs coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and subtle licorice notes to the sonata of scents. Lip-smacking flavor trots roast malt, coffee, toasty, nutty, vanilla, and shy licorice and woody tones across the palate. Texture is smooth and fairly thick, and fizz is firm if not lasting.
