We didnít want this to be Jagged Edge on steroids. Thus rather than using the same hop combination, we chose more fruit forward hops to balance out the alcohol in the beer. The medium crystal malt adds a very subtle color and sweetness. Nugget and Millenium hops are used to bitter. Citra is a new variety to the market that has some similar properties to Simcoe but a more pleasant fruitiness; pineapple/mango aromas mixed in with pine and catís pee. Centennial brings candied orange and Amarillo adds big grapefruit. The liquid in the fermenter is dry-hopped three times- each dry hop equal in weight to the dry hop of Jagged Edge. This multi-stage dry hopping is meant to layer the different hop aromas. The beer is fermented cool to suppress fusel alcohol development, and dextrose is added to allow it to attenuate out highly, leaving very little residual sugar. The idea was to avoid that syrupy "gumsmacker" effect thatís sometimes found in Imperial IPAs. Other than barrel aged beers, this is by far our most labor intensive and expensive beer to make. Rampage fans are legion and we believe they deserve nothing less than the very best we can give them.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a hazy orange color with a frothy off white head. The nose is herbal and tropical hops. The flavor has a little sweetness up front with the requisite big hop finish. Mostly herbal with some guava and papaya. Medium to full bodied with a lengthy hop finish. Pretty solid brew.

A little head on a little haze. A nice nose, sorta Stone-like in its hop profile, but muted. Very sweet and toasted in the mouth. Not too bitter, an unpleasantly cabbage-y finish.

Very fine white head sitting on top of a hazy light orange/amber body. When you go in for a closer look, thatís when you get hit by the big green monster! Strong grassy, piney hop aromas smack you upside the snout along with a clean malt aroma. Spicy pine, grass and citrus hop flavors hit you on the first sip, but itís not cloying or resinous like you might expect. Thereís a good malt backbone to balance the bitterness, but hops are still the boss here. Thereís a nice citrusy bitterness left behind on the tongue although it doesnít stick hard to it and a light caramel sweetness in the follow through. Really nice DIPA!

Medium sized offwhite head with good retention and lace. Hazy copper/gold hued ale. Nose is nice, juicey, fruity with citrus and melons along with some bubblegum notes, a little dank. Med/full bodied, oily on the palate, resiny, juicey, nice carbonation. Large, juicey hop flavors, grapefruit, orange, cotton candy and a little pine. ABV is well hidden. Dry fruity finish, mouthwatering, just fuckin juicey, nice. Bomber from statelineliquors.
