Elwood (1966) - Leesburg, USA - SEP 14, 2011
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a cloudy amber with a one finger head of light tan foam. The nose is malty with some notes of dark bread, white raisin, and fruit. The flavor has a little tobacco, dark bread, slight nuttiness, and lingering back bitterness. A very slight fruitiness emerges as the beer warms. Light to medium body with carbonation that’s a little aggressive. The finish is a little vague and bitter. It comes across as drinkable but a little flabby.

Bottle. Copper, cloudy, light head. Malty aroma but not too deep. Taste is not overly pleasant and the finish is also off. Looks okay and starts out decent, but doesn’t perform.

Poured a hazy brown color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is slightly skunky with caramel and grains. Taste is pretty hoppy, but a bit watery. Some good caramel and earthy flavors. Decent balance. Aftertaste is a little skunky. Overall not bad.

5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Bottle:   Another Black Diamond that appears to be somewhat infected.   Huge fizzy off-white head, sparce lacing, a bit cloudy, strong carbonation.   Yeah, has that pixie stix powdered sugar like aroma.   Otherwise musty malts, barnish, a little wet cardboard.   Tangy spritzy maltiness on the tongue.   Pale fruit skin, really airy.   Common theme with these beers, at least with the IPA.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, very airy and bubbley.   This can’t be normal for these guys.   Pixie stix sugary finish, with apple/pear skin.   Blech... not bad but certainly not a good Amber Ale.

Draft at the Green Dragon. Pours a hazy dark amber with a dense and creamy tan head and nice sheets of lace. Big toasty nutty nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast, nuts, brown bread on the mid-palate. Nice nutty finish. Clean and approachable.

ROGUE (1360) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 20, 2011
12oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a small frothy white head. Smell was minimal, with hints of caramel. The taste had some sweet malt and light piney hops but nothing that is standing out. Mouthfeel was a little thin with medium carbonation.

There was almost a bourbon/ earthy after taste. It also was a dark amber beer with a heavy mouth feel....

Bottle. Dark copper pour with fast dissipating off white head. Clove, banana and plum aroma. Hop flavour with a lot of walnut character. Walnut and plum notes in the finish.

From Snojerk321. Dark brownish-amber color, fluffy off-white head, decent head retention. The aroma shows caramel and biscuity malt, with a little toasted almond. Fairly smooth drinking, slightly creamy palate. Caramel malty flavor, nutty, with a dry toasty finish. Pretty good.
