Part of the sampler from the tap room in Concord CA. Smells of dark fruits. Tastes of figs, raisins and brown sugar. Needs a little more carbonation to push it to elite status.

Pour is hazy dark reddish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, bread, nice dark fruit, slight yeast. Taste was a mix of dark fruit, roast, earth, slight grain, touch of earth, finishing fairly tart, slightly sweet. Eh.

Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of ripe fruit, brown sugar and yeast. Taste of malts, brown sugar, vanilla, sweetened raisins and a touch of spicy yeast. Lower carbonation, full bodied, slightly cloying. Good beer.

(Draught) Pours a black body with a small tan head. Aroma of oak, brandy, vinous, dark fruit, and caramel. Flavor of brandy, raisins, oak, yeast, chocolate, molasses, and brown sugar.

Sampled at GABF. Pours a watery amber with some off white head. Big, boozy nose, apples, brandy, caramel. Flavor of apple cinnamon candies, caramel, sugar, some light spice. Medium bodied. Better than I expected... but not great.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2015 On-tap at the Roasthouse Pub in Frederick, MD. Color was very dark brown with small off-white head. Complex aromas of fruit, yeast, alcohol, brown sugar, caramel and some nuttiness. Taste was rich with a little alcohol heat going down, ending sweet and malty. What a nice adventure, will do again.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clouydy brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of carel, fruittiness and light brandy. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, carmel, light fruittiness and light brandsy with a crisp lingering toffee finish.

On tap at GABF. Pours with a hazy dark brown hue and a small off-white head. Aromas are very fruity, estery vinous and raisin with a bit of a dark candi sugar note. Flavors are estery, dark fruits, caramelization, brown sugar and raisins. A bit of apricot. Medium to low carbonation with some lingering alcohol.

Tap at Opening Gala SF beer week 2011. Pours a dark brown with a thinning head. Aroma is sweet, fruity yeasty notes, plum, figs, some pear- with light phenolic earthy kick. Flavor is big toast, big sweetness, yeasty nuttiness, caramel, honey, molasses, figs, dates, and a bit of alcohol in the end. Ok.
