COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Whether your idea of enjoying the dog days of summer includes gardening, lawn work, or just sitting on the porch beating the heat, we offer our White IPA: light in body, but hoppy enough to know that this isnít just any run-of-the mill lawn mower beer. On the west coast, we are partial to our hoppy beers; but we here at Black Diamond love to experiment in the Belgian fashion. By combining the sessionability of a witbier and the citrus qualities of Pacific Northwest hops, our White IPA satisfies on all fronts. It is a Belgian IPA? Not really. A hoppy wit? Maybe. Perfect for summer? We think so. Pilsner and wheat malt give the beer a light golden color with a subtle hint of cloves and fresh cut grass. Blending European Noble and Pacific Northwest hops, the flavor is moderately spicy and citrus-y. Dry hopped like an IPA, fruity apricot notes intermingle with the yeast esters. So whether youíre mowing that lawn or just sitting on that porch, make sure you do it with one of our White IPAís. Cheers to great beers!

Black Diamond White IPA - IPA cross w. Witbier - 7.4%
65 cl bottle, 5.50Ä, bb 07/15. Good for summer? Yes. Is it summer? No. But i had one this summer, i swear it, just i didnít rate it and has this one laying in the fridge for a while and needed to make space for some winter one.
Dark yellow to gold color, almost lagery appearance with lots of sediment in suspension still not being so hazed or cloudy. Short thick white head, Nice sticky lacework. Nose is herbal and spicy, like witbiers.
Aroma is definitely pale pilsener malts and wheat, with belgian yeast, spices and a very neatly contrasting american hops. Really, belgian yeas (at least i do believe itís used here) does contrast a lot with american style dry hopping. Has a spicyness usually found in Saisons like Urhtel. Citric notes, faint lemon zest, and some grapefruit not as strong as straight IPAs and less fruity tones (but this isnít a straight IPA). Very citrusy, maybe a shim soapy but not disturbing.
Body is incredibly light, light-to-medium, finish is fairly dry, moderately bitter, balanced. Quite low carbonation. Can feel the 7.4 ABV tho. Good for summer? Again, yes. In winter? Hum, still solid.
A cross between Christoffel (hoppy pils), Hoegaarden (well known Wit), Urquell (classic pilsener), and Chouffe IPA (belgian ipa w american hops). Very unique blend, very well balanced. Not enthusiastic on the IPA front but this is not a straight IPA. Could drink 2 liters of this maybe. Very good!

Foamy, cloudy. Cerealish. Bright hop flavor - nice bubblegum. Intrusive malt. Harsh bitter. Very dry malt. Some lacing from all that over-foam, though huge bubbles. Chill haze beyond slight tossled pour that might have left some lees in the mix. Soapy. Harsh. Comes up short.

12 oz. bottle from Del. Pours a clear dark golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have grapefruit citrus, grass, toasted bread, some earthy and herbal character, moderate bitterness to a toasted, dry finish. Just a hint of sweet tea to the finish also.

From an old note, from somewhere on a trip to Tampa... light lemony, pepper, wheat grain, malt, citrus, oily. - 6.2

Not a bad Belgian IPA. Pours straw, lots of head, foams up and gives you that olfactory rush of florals and Belgian yeast.

Superb white IPA. A lot of times I feel that the Belgian yeast gets in the way of the hops or vice versa. Here, beautifully balanced. A- ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle:   Dirty orangish straw, huge chunks of sediment, large foamy off-white head, nice lacing.   Wow, havenít seen chunks that big for a while.   Citrusy hop nose, pale floral notes.   Stale and somewhat wet hop to start, a little citrusy.   Not too bitter.   Seems like an aged IPA.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Soft citrus based finish.   A very soft IPA, not too bitter.   Bigger than a pale, but perhaps more of a 3/4 IPA.
