Gravity dispense at the White Lion, Bristol 22/9/07. Dark amber colour with no head. Rich aroma of red fruit and malt. Flavour was a bit thin but was of sweet malt with a smooth, bitter finish. Ok.

Cask in Blackfriars. Aroma is peachy and grassy, pale malts dominate. Taste is similar quite sweet but balanced with a grassy note. Seem sto be quite pale compaired to other ratings of this beer?

Bottled. Chestnut colour, low head and condition. Caramel aromas dominate the nose, lots more caramel toffee and malt in the mouth and a malty sweet but smooth finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Wasnít sure what style this was, but my best guess was Premium/ESB. Dark brown w/ruby hints, scum top only. Chocolatey flavour. Sweet, pretty smooth, but with a small drag on the tonsils of clay+tobacco. A smooth and flavourosme beer, with a thin, cold mouthfeel.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Half pint pulled at the Alexandra Tavern in Norwich, a clear darkish amber with little head. A marked and (interesting) aroma of maple syrup and some honey. Quite yeasty, nicely combining strong toffee flavours and malt characters. A smooth mouthfeel witha pleasant dryness left in the mouth. Would be great by the fire after dinner on a cold night.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[Cask at the Black Horse, Whitby] Brown with a moderate creamy head. Smooth velvetty chocolate with a bit of treacle and a deep roasted bitterness in the finish. Heading towards a light stout. Great stuff, I love heavier bitters like this.
