COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India pale ale was brewed in England and shipped to Her Majesty's troops in India. the beer was brewed to a higher alcohol content and more heavily hopped to preserve the beer for its voyage. Our IPA is an American version, which is assertively hopped with Nugget and Centennial varieties of hops balanced by a huge malt body.

Thanks to PilsnerPeter for this one. After I managed to smash the first growler I bought of this, I was glad to see it again. Beautiful deep amber-golden beer. Soft caramelly aroma along with some grapefruit and light tropical pineapple hoppiness. Soft palate, chewy and fruity and a fairly chewy lingering resiny bitterness. It’s quite nice really.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2011 Rerate on 1/17/2010. Noticed the beer was strong on floral hops, and the taste of soap. The flavor was the same. The previous year I noticed more citrus, and caramel. The appearance is a dark amber, tan-white head, lots of carbonation. The finish is purely floral hops, astringent, powerful and quite long-lasting, again the aroma and the flavor were the same this year and last. Decent IPA, it seems to vary year to year though.

Growler filled at Black Forest. Pours a dark amber with a moderate tan head that lasted through mid-glass and coated the glass with a solid layer of foam with each sip. Very pleasant aroma of grapefruit and caramel. The flavor is not quite as fruity nor not quite as sweet as the aroma suggests with grapefruit, caramel and just a bit of husky grain. Bitterness at the finish is just right and is not overdone. Very good IPA.

Growler shared by PilsPete. Hops are pretty earthy and dusty, slightly stinging. The pale malts are pretty tasty too, balancing it out. Decent stuff.

Going around twice on this beer, once a growler at Hoboken gathering and just today a sampler at the brewpub. Its a pretty basic IPA, a bit musky and tea like hops. Low on the bitterness with a bit of a slick and sweet malt presence. Decent stuff.

Growler. Poured a slightly hazed amber color with a thin off-white head. The aroma had some nice citrus and orange hop notes with a light malt base. The flavor was a balanced mix of citrus hops and caramel malt. Long moderately bitter finish. Light-medium body.

growler @Pauls Hoboken#1-thanks pilsnerpete–pours a light tan ring for a head and hazy amber color. Aroma is musty medium malt, spices, secondary pine/resin. Taste is musty medium malt, spices, secondary pine/resin, finishes with some bitterness. Easy drinking.

Hazy amber. Aroma is citrus and hoppy like a good IPA should be. There is a note of something (which I think others have called pine) that makes this a very interesting brew. Although at first I though that this might be a rebrand of their wheat IPA, looking back at my rating of that, I can see that this is rather different.
