Tap at Bristol. Bright yellow and hazy. Bananas and yeast in the nose. Very mild and simple-more like a Belgian single than a saison. Drinkable and refreshing but nothing more than that.

Tap. Pours clear yellow with a medium, creamy white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is straw malt and farmhouse yeast, earthy hops, pear, apple, and dust. Flavor is malt with farmhouse yeast, earthy notes, and no hop bitterness. Medium-light bodied, medium carbonation.

poured at the 14th annual CO Brewers’ Rendezvous. same malt build as their Mexican lager, interestingly enough. cloudy yellow hue, nice crisp and tart taste, not as much funk as many saisons. not overly complex, but seems well-designed for an easy-drinking summer brew. intense and (not unpleasantly) bitter finish is a nice twist. so, probably different hopping as well as different yeast, yes?

Tap at Falling Rock - an interesting saison - musty, lightly sweaty aroma, with notes of white grapes - light, medium dry, but not quite as crisp as I like my saisons - quite a bit of white wine character, mild phenols, some rustic, grassy notes - finishes a touch dry, herbal, and floral - quite good.

Draft @ Falling rock. Nose is clove and nutmeg with a little yeast. Flavor is pleasant spiciness with a nice round wheat and a crisp finish with just hints of hay and straw. Nice, highly drinkable saison.

Draft at Trinity 8/10/09-Pours a slightly hazy golden with a big white head. Aroma of yeast, coriander, and spices. Taste of the same with some more spices kicking in. This was a nice light bodied Saison.

3fourths (6399) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 25, 2009
Draft, Falling Rock. Milky dark yellow body, white head, fine-bubbled. Soft wheat and floral spiced nose, small amounts of banana and clove ala hefeweizen noted, mild lactic note as well. Body very smooth, medium dryness, silky mouthfeel. Doughy flavor of malted wheat, the yeast seems a cross between weizen and Belgian tripel. Overall it’s approachable and undemanding, no major brewing flaws, only complaint would be what appears to be a simple recipe but even so it’s easily drinkable and delicious.
