Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
A combination of chocolate malt, crystal malt and roasted barley produce the subtle series of smooth flavours in this dark beer, whilst a balance of dry bitterness and spicy aroma is achieved by a late hop of Goldings.

Cask condition, handpull at Wenlock Arms. Black beer with brown edges, tan head. This is a pretty good stout. Nice charcoal. some decent dark fruits and chocolate. I like the toasty parts on it.

Cask@The Wenlock Arms. Roasty, and sweet, with notes of caramel and mollasses. The finish is roasty and helps to combat the sweetness a little. Still, probably a little sweet and thin, i like my stouts a bit more roasty.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock. A solid stout all round. Coffee, roasty, all you need. Slight plastic note lets it down a little but its good enough for it to not be an issue. Enjoyed this.

Cask conditioned at Merton Summer B.F ’08. Black with cream head. Quite sweet for a Porter, some coffee notes, but an overwhelming flavour of Pontefract Cake. Liquorice and touches of chocolate. It’s ok.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Out Of The Vaults Leicester. A black beer with a loose whitish head. The aroma is fairly thin but there are some light chocolate notes. The taste is creamy and milky with chocolate notes again. Smooth and sweetish. Acceptable.
