Sampled on draught at the 2010 Great Northern Beer Festival in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy brownish amber colored brew with a thick beige head that slowly disappears to a cream top. Aroma of roasted English malt, floral hops, some roasted nuts and a hint of citrus. Taste is malty, a touch sweeter than the Harold the Red, with flavors of roasted nuts, dark pitted fruit and some citrus. Finish is well balanced. A quick mild bitterness and then a brown malt and chocolate aftertaste. Solid and decent.

Medium sized tan head, good retention and fair lacing. Clear brown, ruby hued ale. Nose of caramel, light maple and roast, somewhat worty. Body is medium, lightly oily, soft carbonation. Mild flavors. Cararmel, maple, earthy leafy notes and a little nuttyness, brown malt notes, grain. Dry finish, light bitterness. Not bad. Props to MOTORTODDHEAD for the bottle!
