3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours very dark brown with a frothy wooden brown head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is malty with roasted malts, dark bread, toasted cereal, single malt whisky, vanilla fudge, dark chocolate, sweetened coffee, moist soil, charred wood, liquorice fudge, peat and hints of smoke, burnt caramel and alcohol. Taste is tiny sweet, slightly bitter and malty with roasted malts, toasted cereal, sweet dark bread, charred wood, peat, whisky, vanilla fudge, sweet liquorice candy, moist soil, hay, coffee, cocoa powder and hints of smoke. Mouthfeel is soft, smooth, round and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and malty with toasted malts, bread, charred wood, vanilla fudge, coffee, cocoa powder, soil and hay. Nice balance and I guess it’s pretty good but it lacks a lot to pop. Had pretty high expectations from this but it seems the pretty packaging was slightly deceiving.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Botlle #582 of 1051. It pours black with a medium beige head. The nose is mellow roast, coffee, vanilla, marshmallow, wood, iodine, cocoa and fudge. The taste is bitter roast, treacle, peppery, charred wood, earth, motor oil, whisky, salted caramel, burnt notes, liquorice and light vanilla with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Pretty flavoursome, but I just don’t think the balance is quite there.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This bottled brew from a rating party poured a medium sized head of foamy dark tan colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a very softly carbonated opaque and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering dark malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of old ale strong malt and dark malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

Pitch black, beige fluffy head. Malty nose, nothing extreme. The palate is more heavy on the peat, tar and whisky side. Whisky mouth feel, ask and all. Sweet, oaky, a bit short tail.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is opaque black (flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain), with notes of raw wood, whisky, vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Rather plain and non-Imperial...just kind of a strong-ish dry stout. Nothing wrong with it, just boring. Awesome appearance though...opaque and very nicely lasting head.
