Bottle courtesy of Craig at Craigs doing a Chris O tasting, Edingburgh (ta for the beer Craig) Saturday 15th March Pours dark brown, the barrel ageing is a bit more subtle than previous ones. Tangy the alcohol shows, its nice. Roasty and not as pushy as others but its good. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle. Black with tan head. Aroma is roasty, sherry comes through and licorice. Taste is similar, lots of licorice and molasses with some piney hops. Sweet and a little bitter. Delish.

Bottle. Pretty much black. Thin head. Aroma is rich and fruity with dark molasses, some sweetness from the sherry cask. Taste is rich molasses with a hint of roast, lots of sherry sweetness, plums and Christmas fruitcake, and a dash of alcohol. Yet, it has some vibrancy from carbonation more akin to an IPA than to strong ales, and from a little bit of acidity that was probably picked up in the aging process. Nice brew.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of sherry, roasted malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, sherry, roasted malt, and ash, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle 466 from 1272, from Rudat, Dortmund
The color is very dark, not completely black; essentially no head. Mild aroma of roasted malt with light biscuity touch , and very light earthy impression. Good caramel flavor, lean, dryish, with hints of coffee; correct bitterness; a bit astringent in the end. Not much barrel in it, maybe just a very light vinous touch.
Very nice and balanced.

Bottle at Bruce’s new pad, thanks to Paul, 15/10/13. Bottle # 402/1272. Light black with a thin tan head of bubbles that departs edgeward. Nose is dark toffee, dark fruits, sherry evident, brown sugars, hint of smoke, light booze, biscuit notes. Taste comprises brown sugar, sherry trifle, treacle toffee, fruits. Medium bodied, a little on the thin side for an 8% offering, light booze in the finale. Decent enough impy, good flavour profile, just let down a little by the body.

Tasting at Bruce’s new pad. Thanks to Paul for this tasty Scottish treat. Hazy dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Light semi dry palate. Lightly tangy dark malt with a little cream and mildly bitter dark chocolate. Little wood. Whisper of fruity sherry. Light dry finish with a woody bitter linger.
