This fantastic strong stout is filled with the finest New World hops giving festive pine notes which complement the heavy liquorice and coffee malt base. Aged in whisky casks

Bottle from way back (prolly Cornelius). #1255 of 2592. Pours flat cola brown, thin wispy tan head. Ozone and whisky nose. Full body, thick mouthfeel. Dull and dusty caramel. Some wood and whisky. I fear I've left this one too long unfortunately.

Bottle @home tasting General Election 2015 (rating backlog) Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose is wood, oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and liquorice, its a wonderful nose. Big woody taste roasted beans big fruits. This is a touch harsh with the alcohol and slightly more chocolate.

Bottle thanks to McNeillR! Pours a brownish black with a slight brown head which soon recedes. Aroma is mild vanilla, some oak and a hint of roastiness. Taste is slightly tart initially, slightly roast, a hint of coffee, a touch of oak.

Small bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich, dark malts, caramel, whisky, licorice, grass, dark berries, leather, coffee. Taste is slightly rich and sweet, dark malts, dark sugar, whisky, oak, licorice, caramel, grass, minerals, coffee, chocolate. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle at Mette & Theis. Black colored with a small beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma of caramel and fruits with notes of whisky. Sweet and roasted flavor of caramel, chocolate and whisky with notes of licorice. Roasted finish.

Bottle (no. 38 of 2592) shared by Benzai @ Van Moll Brewpub, served in a taster glass. Dark brown color, short frothy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, mocha, chocolate, some coffee, slight biscuity malts, bit whisky. Medium sweet in taste, slight bitter, chocolate. Creamy texture. Not as liquoricy as some other RIS, but more velvety and smooth, which I like.

Taste malts, whisky, caramel, dark chocolate, slightly alcohol, liquorice, a hint of sweetness, lightly bitter in the finish, lightly roasty, lightly earthy. Medium body and carbonation.
