[keg at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Black pour with a thin white lacing. Bitter liquorice on the nose, slightly chocolatey. Plenty of flavours on the go – pepper, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. It’s quite spiky at first – but the roasted notes come back in the finish. Alcohol is there, but never dominant, and the finish is long and bitter. Very nice, would be very smooth on cask [09112011]

On keg at the Black Isle Tap Takeover at Cloisters. Thanks Dan! A black beer with a thin, light tan head. Aroma is a little smoky with coffee, chocolate and caramel. Similar flavours with chocolate upfront and a roasty malt finish. Alcohol is fairly present with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Superb! I’m looking forward to seeing this on cask.
