[keg at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Not tried Goldeneye on keg before, realised I hadn’t actually rated it at all. Pale amber pour, with a thin off-white head. Sweet, malty nose once the beer has warmed a little. Plenty of fruit in evidence on the nose, as well. Citrus and pine on the flavour, before the malt arrives – good balance, and a good, lingering finish

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.33l bottle from Systembolaget Passagen, Stockholm. This one pours a clouded copperish body with a small fading big bubbly and sidesticking just off-white head. The first thing I get in the aroma is lots of chocolate! Strange thing to put in a pale ale. Also nice fruity tones, caramel, ripe berries and lots of sweet malts. Nice aroma. Average carbonated with a rich and surprisingly thick and almost oily mouthfeel. Sweet and malty flavors quite elegantly balanced by fruity and dry hops. Hints of strawberries and peaches. Ends light dry. This one impressed me. A good APA!

Bottle from Systembolaget, at home. May, 2011.
Pours clear pale yellow with an airy white head. Fresh aromas of citrus fruits and malts, bitter hops is also slightly noticable. The taste is malt forwarded with notes of caramel and crisp bread. Got a nice bitterness but overall it feels a bit watery.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Explodes all over the kitchen floor with an unmistakeable waft of Brett- not what I was expecting. Pours murky orange with a fine, persistent white slick. Immediately Belgian-accented aroma with Orval-like lily notes, horse, gooseberry, wine gums, wild yeast. Tangy and yeasty with an attractive, spicy Bazooka chew character- Orval again. Floral hops, edgy yeast. Top stuff, and more than welcome after a week on the donkey beater.
