COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true pale ale. The full body and rich gold colour comes from a blend of wheat, pale ale and crystal malts. It’s floral and lime citrus nose is created by the extensive use of carefully selected New World aroma hops. The final stage of dry hopping then produces a rich berry flavour for a big refreshing, satisfying brew.

330 ml bottle from Systembolaget.
BB 03/12, LOT 0026, sampled on April 16, 2011.
Clear copper color, nice off-white head, though it dissipates very fast. Sweet and acidic to sour scent, maybe from the hops? Also fruity and mandarin smell. Malty, bitter taste that finishes fairly fast and short with a dry bitter and salty mineral touch. Taste also has some fruity hops and somewhat harsh bitterness. Lingering dry bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, high dry bitterness.
Pretty good stuff, though nothing I’ll get too often. One of those beers you could sit down with for drinking rather than sipping.

SaintMatty (5259) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - APR 13, 2011
330ml Bottle - Amber with a foamy head. Lemon, grapefruit, marmalade and peach in the rather enticing aroma. Tangy, hoppy and refreshing taste with notes of grapefruit, peach, marmalade and passion fruit. Rather enjoyable and drinks well. I find that a lot of British beers tend to taste their strength and alcohol is usually rather evident. This beer, however, seems to taste like it’s weaker than the ABV.

Bottle, 33cl - Clear amber orange beer with a large cream white head. Aroma is malty with notes of spruce, citrus and toffee. Flavor is malty with notes of citrus, tea, herbs and bread. Rather thin and with noting that stands out. This is what I’ll recommend Corona drinkers on a warm summer.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2011 Re-rating - nothing to add to the tasting notes except that the taste is definitely not faint on this occasion and this is a very enjoyable beer. However, I must have been in a very tight mood to give those original scores. Previous rating 27/03/11 6/3/7/3/12 = 3.1 33cl bottle. Orangey brown colour with nice head. The nose is very interesting - wilted spinach and earthy flavours. The taste is of rocket, pine and grapefruit. The taste is a little faint but there some bitter grapefruit and pine. The palate is full and creamy with a bitter/refreshing finish. I would probably only want to drink one or two at a time - it’s more interesting than good but good all the same.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2011 KEG debut at Cloisters. Sadly this was the first time I?d had it though, so can?t compare. Orange copper with a very tiny white head. Hoppy, fruity nose. Crazy caramel/vanilla note too. Orange zest. Highlights are big carbonation and hops, some nice fruit on the palate. Nice deep fruits, resinous hoppy aftertaste. Pretty nice, very unique. EDIT: had this a few times since. One of my go-to beers if there’s nothing new on offer. +0.2
