COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This tawny coloured ale is secondary fermented in the bottle. Made from fresh quality water, malt, hops and yeast, it is a strong ale with a wonderfully rich aroma and flavour of fruit cake, treacle and plum.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2011 In bottle at The Cambridge Bar. A black beer with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of plums, chocolate, treacle, caramel and Christmas cake. A little thin and somewhat chewy. Flavours of plum pudding, chocolate and dark malt. Medium carbonation with a light CO2 prickle. Very nice.

Cask at Cloisters. Inky dark brown, medium off-white head. Nose of chocolate-coated raisins, fruit cake, plums, liquorice. Smooth palate, milk chocolate, raisins & fruit. Tiny bit of booze on the finish, but warming rather than aggressive. Some roastiness on the finish too. Lovely stuff.

[330ml bottle, Caley Sample Room, Edinburgh] Served as part of pairing dinner at Caley Sample Room. Black pour with a very thin off-white head. Good roasty, slightly smoky aromas. Boozy, espresso touch at first on the palate, although there are plenty of fruity characteristics about it. Finish is very long and alcohol forward. This was paired with smoked oysters, which worked beautifully [06062011]

More black than tawny. Head falls quickly. Aroma of roasty coffee but dirty notes. Taste the same - very roasty but lots of dead yeast is not good.

Bottle resembles the bottle I shared with noize, skortila and bullit. But I doubt this to be a golden ale and it doesnt resemble the other ratings below (apart from ours). So might be another beer. Roasted malt, licorice, coffee. English hops. Pretty ok.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of berries and alcohol. The flavor is swweet malty with notes of strawand alcohol. Extremely dry - no refreshment to find in this one.
