This tawny coloured ale is secondary fermented in the bottle. Made from fresh quality water, malt, hops and yeast, it is a strong ale with a wonderfully rich aroma and flavour of fruit cake, treacle and plum.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of Ungstrup. Clear, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head leaving a handsome lacework. Sweetish, burned malt accents in the aroma. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel and a somewhat low carbonation. Dry, dark and burned malt accents with a distinct malt bitterness. 171107

Opaque dark brown beer with a tidy mid tan head. Palate is slightly soft and dry. Modest carbonation. Sweetish creamy dark malts. Smooth light tang. A little lactose. Light sweet fruits underneath with a Belgian yeast like Coca Cola twang. Smooth finish. Tasty.

Black color; creamy head. Mild aroma of roasted malt and pepper. Medium body strength, quite smooth, with a mix of caramel and roasted malt flavor, and a touch of pepper. It has to grow…

Hazy nut brown color, small white head. Yeasty, slightly toasted, chocolaty, a bit bready aroma. Yeasty ... did I already say yeasty? Some sweet roasted malts. Very difficult beer to rate.

330 ml bottle purchased mid-June at the brewery. Aroma of plum and molasses. Deep brown, cloudy, little head. Starts with plummy fruit, but chocolate arrives. Finishes thin, with chocolaty, malty, mildly hoppy complexity. The flavor sticks to the tongue. Top tenner for taking to that desert isle.
