3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark red brown colour with a small to average, frothy, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet malt, alcohol - whisky notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, chocolate, dark roasted, sweet malt - dark fruit, light wood - oak. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. IMO. abit like a BA roasted dunkel bock, quit nice.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2013 Nine Month Aged EditionCharred brown body with a comforting clump of cream head. Big slap of booze varnished oak in the nose, some seedy loosening hint as it opened up with alighted chocolates and coal at this point.
Firm whisky foothold on initial taste, a taught graininess either from oak or malt and an edge of dark bitter choc smooths things into the midrange. The linger is properly evaporating dryness with nothing in the palate to back this up. Every edge of it is embossed with the whisky.
Decent amount of the whisky character in every sip, developing either more than the beer or simply overpowers it start to finish. Too Batman and Robin than the whisky simply complimenting the Imperial for me. A general stout maybe, but the original version tastes like the last couple of months wrang the Oatmeal out.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[cask, the Waiting Room, Edinburgh] Very black, with a beige-coloured, centimetre high head. Aroma is sweet, soft whisky, wood, alcohol, dark fruit. Really got a sense of how this has mellowed in the cask after it was mislaid – which it genuinely was, according to head brewer Colin. Lovely breakthrough finish of the soft, slightly peaty, slightly oaky whisky. Great stuff

Cask at waiting rooms deep black stout oatmeal provides a backdrop for a sweet chocolate espresso flavour with a overture of whisky barrel lacing which provides a strong alcohol kick

Bottle. Black with tan head. Slightly thin oaky whisky aroma. Taste is a tad thin, chocolate and oak. A bit thinner than the non barrel aged. Nice
