Caramel, bit roasted, red fruits, deep brown with reddish reflections with a huge and quite persistant tan head, medium body, medium carbonation, a bit watery, roasted and red fruits...not an extraordinary scotch ale but see his scottish power in a thistle.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle.
The spicy and malty aroma suggests a sweet ale, which this is for a moment, but there are enough hops and dark roasted grains to leave a mildly bitter finish and aftertaste. References to fruit cake are not unfounded, but this has plenty of the cake and other things, and limited fruitiness. The lingering aftertaste carries notes of black coffee and baked raisins.
Feel: full body with medium+ carbonation and more evidence of alcohol than I;d prefer.
O: a rich and relatively complex Scotch Ale with some Robust Porter characteristics.
