Bottle from Waitrose. Dark brown in colour with a slight, off-white head. Big roasty malt aroma, with some dark chocolate. Earthy malt aroma, with more chocolate, black coffee and a slight touch of sourness. Finish was pretty bitter. Good.

Svesse (5240) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 14, 2011
(Keg at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 20 July 2011) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Roasted, malty taste with chocolate, coffee, dark bread and ryvita. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, dark bread, gentle coffee hints and a mild, roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, dry. Nice but lacking something extra (would probably gain from not being served ice cold).

Almost black coloured. A very pleasant porter with lots of roastiness and notes of coffee.

Sampled at the LCBM 2005
Lovely rich orangepeel and coffee aroma. Jet black, low head. Metallic coffee flavoring which doesnt quite lives up to the aroma and a unnfoortunate thinnish metallic body.

Bottled at RBESG 2005. Black. Small beige head. Sourish flavour. Rather thin and watery. Some weird pea-flavour.

jbrus (4992) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - OCT 16, 2005
Bottled at LC-RBM. My first this gathering! Aroma is mocca and black currant. Cloudy, black color, brown head, fair lace. Light sweet, light bitter, light sourish, coffee, roasted and a hint of mocca in the finish. Sandy, dry, bit thin.

KyotoLefty (4777) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 7, 2012
Bottle at the Pig and Whistle in Kyoto. Black with reddish tints and a low, thick head. Nice nose of chocolate, cocoa, cream, fruit, and a touch of veggies. Cocoa flavor, sweet but not overly so, with a light tang. Very creamy, vanilla and milk and light coffee roast. Dry finish with some hops. Light but full and smooth. Good.

Bottle. Poured a khaki head on top of this almost black beer. Delicious earthy espresso aroma with berries in the background. Espresso and berries in the continuation, but with chocolate flavours shining through as well. Medium to lightish body, but not excessively so. A very drinkable porter in my opinion.

50cl, at 4.6%Vol, organic Scottish brew, from The Bottle Shop Canterbury, not complex Porter, malty/roasted and slightly bitter, easy to drink, balanced, clear, small head, nice brew
