Cask at The Anchor, Birmingham. Some fruit in the aroma, but not too much going on. Little head or lacing, and looked a bit like a Marzen. Very pleasnt stuff - not a strong presence (no finish, and thin mouthfeel). Some Ipa type flavour, with ginger and fruit notes. Not complex, but enjoyable.

Cask at nobles. Pours deep red with beige head. Boring and inoffensive. A decent enough bitter, malty, slight hops, bit watery.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2012 On cask at Jocktoberfest at the Black Isle Brewery. Pours a dark red colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of yeast and caramel. Similar flavours with some grassy hop notes. Quite yeasty overall with a long caramel linger. Mouth-feel is a little oily. (5463 13). Unfined cask at The Stockbridge Tap. Pours a cloudy red colour with a decent white head. Aroma of barley sugar, strawberry and caramel. Similar flavours with lingering caramel and strawberries again. Nice and dry with mild carbonation. I much prefer this version. Also had this with nitrogen as Black Isle Better at Nobles for the Black Isle Total Tap Takeover. The nitrogen gave it a thick, creamy beige head and the linger was nice and malty.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 20 July 2011) Reddish amber colour with creamy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of red fruit, orange peel and hints of caramel. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, caramel, red fruit and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, fairly sweet. Quite nice.

Tap @ Caley Sample Room. Pours an amber-red with a nice head. The nose is intriguing with notes of barra-brith and then hazelnuts. The taste has more of the nuts and a sweet maltiness with some gentle herby hops on the end. The palate is medium in structure, with a good creamy texture and a refreshing finish.
