330ml bottle from Appellation Wines, Edinburgh - pours very dark brown with a minimal head, aroma of roasted malt and caramel among others, flavour is similar with a somewhat bitter aftertaste, oily feel, not my favourite type of drink, but this is passable

Bottle from mr_h. 6.2% abv. Tarry malt aroma. Clear dark brown colour, good head. Sour grassy treacle malt flavour. Smooth with bitter sweet aftertaste. Not my thing.

330ml Bottle. Actually unsure whether this was a bottle - purchased in October 2011 direct from brewery.

[cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Pours deep ruby black, with a very nice white head. Sweet, malty aroma. Initially quite creamy on the palate, before plummy fruit comes on and the beer finishes with a touch of oak/whisky. Quite boozy at the end as well. I didn’t get much caramel for a Scotch Ale – which personally is a good thing [09112011]

On cask at the Black Isle Tap Takeover at Cloisters. Pours a very dark brown colour with a thick light tan head. Aroma of Werther’s Original caramels, peaches and cream sweets, chocolate and yeast. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Lingering chocolate and caramel Rolo flavours. Lots of confectionery type aroma and flavours but not too sweet. Not bad at all.
