330mL bottle BBE: 15.12.15. Medium chill (around 10 degrees). Pours a deep, dark, almost black body with reddish hue. The head is medium-small, but well-retained, with a fawn-tan head. Great lacing. Prominent smoked character on the nose, with a particularly meaty character, including strong notes of smokey bacon. Darker tobacco and coffee notes linger in the background. A moderate, gamy sweetness is only partially counteracted in a bitter, chocolatey finish. Full-medium bodied with a slick texture, low-medium carbonation and a lasting, smokey finish. Heavily smoked and far from subtle, what this lacks in complexity it makes up for in impact. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Labelled as Black Isle Smoked Oktobeer. Apparent smokey flavors with a rich body. A really nice brew for the autumn darkness.

Lovely smoke character, peat and not really any noticeable fruit or hop flavours. Taste has some lapsang souchon tea, and ashy flavour and mouthfeel.

A 330ml bottle from the 2014 small batch, bottle number 6488 of 8480 with a best before end date of October 2015. It was poured into a pint glass. The beer poured a dark brown with a thinnish cream tanned head that did not stick around too long. Aromas of roasted malts with a bit of chocolate, licorice and slight peat smoke. Taste starts slightly sweet caramel and chocolate maybe even some toffee, but finish is definitely smoky, bitter and lingering ash. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall, I’ve had quite a few smoked beers before and although this was not the best of them, it was still pretty good. I would buy this again.
