ryan (1707), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Oct 28, 2007 MBGF07. Cola brown body with a tiny tan head. The nose is sweet with molasses, milk chocolate and oats. The flavor is milk chocolate, some molasses and cola. Medium/light body is thin with light carbonation. Silphium (2027), Lansing, Michigan, USA Sep 6, 2007 On tap at Black Lotus. Deep opaque brown-black body, thin head. Chocolaty aroma with roasted malt and a hint of lactic sweetness. Rather watery body, toasty, and even a touch smoky, focusing on relatively sweet chocolate characteristics. Fair complexity but a bit thin. ogglethorp (800), Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2007 MIBGF on tap. Pours oily black color with almost non-existance brown head. Aroma is toasty, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is same as aroma, only very mild. Palate is medium to light, mild carbonation, finishes bitter. Not very exciting. nbutts1297 (2), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA does not count Aug 9, 2007 Rich dark color with a nice Coffee and Chocolate under tones. I also like that it’s not a very heavy beer. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 2, 2007 MiBGF 07: Deep brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma has notes of toasty and roasted malts, some walnut and chocolate, earthy esters and a hint of grassy hops. Clean bitterness greets the taster with coffee and hops before a shot of sweet milk chocolate comes to play. The finish is short and mostly clean, not what I expected from a sweet stout. While the mouth feel is nice and smooth, it is a tad too thin for a beer with oatmeal. A good brew, I would like to see more from this brewery.
