I was disappointed. Good head and Lacing with a light red color. Heavier malts and a real earthy undertone. Nothing distinctive stands out. The least enjoyable of the ones I sampled this date.

Sample at the brewpub on 7/23/11. Clear red pour with a medium beige head. Malty nose with dank earthy hops. Flavor starts malty with dank tobacco character before an earthy hop finish.

Tap at the brewpub. The beer has a deep, slightly hazy amber pour. Light munich malt sweetness and a touch of medium crystal malt sweetness. Fairly herbal with an assertive bitterness. Light fruit on the finish.

Tap @ Black Lotus - Orange pour, some toffee, caramel malts. Smooth body, some nutty notes. Not bad.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours brown/amber with a white head. Aroma of caramel malt and sweet fruit. Flavor of sweet fruit (mostly apple) and lots of malty notes. Perhaps not the most exciting amber ale but it was pretty tasty and quite drinkable.

i think i can sum this beer up with a single word: bland. since when was a 5.5% amber anything but bland? it’s a boring style, and this one was extra boring.

This beer can be very good, on occasion, but more often it is very flat and lacks flavor and body.

On tap: The aroma is very light with some fruity caramel notes. It’s a transparent amber with a small off-white head. The flavor starts lightly fruity with some faint caramel. It finishes with a mild citrus hoppiness with some faint roastiness.
