1945 Berliner Weisse Berliner Weisse is a very pale, sour, refreshing, low-alcohol wheat ale, and regional specialty of Berlin. Berliner Weisse was referred to by Napoleonís troops in 1809 as "the Champagne of the North" due to its lively and elegant character. Enjoy the tart, refreshing flavor by itself, or try a more traditional German approach by mixing with a shot raspberry, woodruff, or other flavored syrup.

10 oz glass from E9. Hazy light gold pour with no foam. Aroma is tart green apples. Taste is tart, dry, crisp. Green apple flavor dominates and wheat too. Pretty good!

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of lemons, tart fruit, and a touch of sweetness. Flavour is extremely well-structured, with lots of tart lemons, wheat and a little funk. Now this is how you do a good Berliner. Excellent stuff.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a moderate off white head on it. Nose is slightly wheaty with a fair amount of sour funk to it. Taste is fairly sour with a nice crispness to it which surprised me. Lighter than expected, too.

22oz bomber ($6) into Free State globe/tulip glass. Pours loudly, small but fizzy champagne like head that quickly fades as champagne would, nice touch. Pale yellow color. Aroma is light with lemony accents an generally clean. No husk, no wheatiness, generally just lemony. The aroma is nice but the flavor takes off with a cool strong lemon character with lots of very tartness and clean citric character tingles at the end of the flavor. Very sparking an effervescent on the cheeks. Very lively at tart with a backing of straightforward neutral malts playing the glue to the rest of the beer. Long lemon aftertastes. Not too much for me, just right. Enjoyed the whole bomber myself and caní wait to buy more.

Hazed yellow/gold. Flavor isa nice welcomed sour, but Iím not totally sure about the flavor. Acidulated malt? Lemons, white vinegar, wheat, warheads candy.

Draft at brouwers. Murky gold pour, ring of white head. Aroma: wheat, vinegar, lemon. Puckeringly tart, but none of the puke flavor I despise. So tart. Light body, lively carbonation. Overall: the moral of the story today is low expectations => greater pleasure when surprised.

Iím new to Berliner Weisse, so this is probably a good beer. Very tart and sour aroma with a hint of bacteria. Hazy medium yellow with a very foamy white head. Pretty sour/tart in the flavor along with a Brett quality. Lemony/orange flavor but sour just takes over. I can see getting used to this and liking it.

Clear golden coloured body with a super thick, six centimetre tall pure white head and tons of movement noticeable. Aroma of lemons, yeast, sour grapes, brett and hints of milk. Light-bodied; Assertive sour and citrus flavours up front with no malt or wheat at all, no hops, and not much sugar - perhaps a hint from the citrus. Aftertaste is quite sour and one-dimensional with no body. Overall, a nice example of a berliner from here in America and very easy to drink, especially in the summer. I liked it a lot and would have preferred it with a straw and some syrup, but I had this in a lowball glass straight. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Olive Tree Market Place in San Diego, California on 07-June-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington the day it first hit over freezing temperature for the past five days - perfect for a summer beer, while watching ice hockey in southern california on 25-January-2014.

Poured a hazy yellow out of the bottle with aromas of light tart lemons, light lacto and some hay. Flavors are the same light and refreshing on the palate, I could drink this stuff all day and every day.
