COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A brown beer that balances the influences of English malt and yeast and American hops. Notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee and caramel play nicely with a healthy dose of citrusy hops, making for a noteworthy twist on the traditional concept of a Brown Ale.
Hops: Cascade, Columbus
Malt: Pale, Munich, Brown, Chocolate

Note: Formerly known as Black Market Anglo-American Style Brown.

Pours muddy brown with medium soapy tan head. Aromas of toffee, chocolate, bready malts, and subtle floral hops. Taste is big bready malts, chocolate, coffee grounds, and mild bitterness. Finish is slightly sweet. Not a bad beer, but missing balance overall.

Bottle; dark muddy brown in color with a big head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and roasted malt. Fairly hoppy for the style, but a bit too muted in the brown/malty backbone. Easy to drink and solid overall.

Bottle:   Bit of a foam over at opening.   Comes across as spritzy, light, soft toasted malts, touch of coffee and cocoa.   Nice flavor profile, but real light, too light.   Low on the hop side.   Light to moderate body and mouthfeel.   Soft toasted malts linger, even a touch of lactose.   Tiz okay, but needs more body.

On tap @ Black Market. Brown pour with an off-white head. Fruity esters, toasted malt, and a hint of roast. Molasses, grass, and some nuts. The flavor is pretty meh as well. Light roast, toasted malt, fruity esters, and molasses. Toasted nuts, grass, apple, and a bitter finish.

Called the West Coast Brown ale (no idea a brown ale and west coast had anything to do with one another) poured up at the brewery with a nice looking amber colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up nutty notes, roasted malts and some sweet malts off in the background. The taste delivers sweet malts, nutty sweetness, some roasted malts and then thin layers of brunt maltiness. This is pretty rich and deep with body and flavor

Draft at the brewery. Clear brown pour, with a thin off white head. Toasty malt, nuts, caramel, and lightly hoppy. A solid brown ale.

On tap at the brewery. Itís a dark brown pour, clear, with no head and light lacing. The aroma is roasty, nutty, malty, and a little bit of chocolate buried in there. Itís just a bit fizzy, so it loses a point for palate, but itís not too bad. Medium body, strong taste, stronger that other nut browns Iíve had...medium-high bitterness, although not "fresh" or hoppy. Too heavy for a session ale, I think this beer would be better in winter. Definitely not bad, though.
